Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking an Expert Team Lead, SWE based in the United Arab Emirates. The role combines leadership with hands-on software engineering and data quality responsibilities to support AI model development.

You will supervise AI Tutors, review technical work, and drive quality standards, while coordinating with data managers and engineers to translate model requirements into effective data strategies.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of hands-on data labeling, annotation, AI training, or evaluation experience.
• Professional software engineering experience with data-driven projects.
• Understanding of data quality metrics and QA practices.
• Familiarity with AI model training concepts and data requirements.
• Experience leading small teams and coaching toward performance goals.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills.
• Experience with distributed teams or mixed employment models is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end quality and delivery for assigned human data projects.
• Lead, coach, and performance-manage a team of AI Tutors.
• Participate in labeling, annotation, evaluation, and review activities.
• Establish QA processes, taxonomy standards, and evaluation criteria.
• Monitor KPIs and use data to improve team efficiency.
• Develop training materials, exercises, and certification benchmarks.
• Partner with data managers, team leads, and engineering stakeholders.
• Promote high-performance culture and ongoing professional development.
• Document outcomes and communicate status, risks, and results to stakeholders.
• Represent AI Tutor team needs and collaborate across the organization.
