Pediatric Nurse to be responsible for the medical and health care of children from birth to late teens. The Pediatric Nurse will discuss a child's symptoms and medical history, provide initial care, administer prescribed medication, and monitor the patient's progress. The Pediatric Nurse will also provide support to families and work with them to address their concerns, fears, problems, and options.
Clinical Practice
- Work with children, ask questions about their health for diagnosis, and document patients' symptoms and medical history for the doctor.
- Assess children’s needs and provide initial care.
- Administer medications, draw blood, and give childhood vaccinations following age-appropriate guidelines.
- Monitor temperature, pulse, breathing, and blood pressure, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Evaluate children for signs and symptoms of abuse and elevate concerns as appropriate.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
- Respond to life‑saving situations in line with nursing standards and protocol.
- Deliver a high standard of evidence‑based care to patients at King’s College Hospital (KCH).
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patients’ needs on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure patients and their relatives are updated regularly with accurate and sensitive information.
Family and Patient Support
- Deal with the anxieties and demands of parents and help families cope with their child’s illness or injury.
- Support patients, caretakers, and relatives, involving them in care where appropriate.
- Provide health education to promote healthy lifestyles.
- Have due regard for each patient’s cultural and religious beliefs, respecting privacy, dignity, gender, and sexuality.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Compliance and Standards
- Adhere to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines.
- Uphold high standards of care in all departments of KCH.
- Actively support the implementation of centre nursing and local strategy, upholding the ethos of the centre.
- Ensure relevant information regarding patients’ needs and conditions is communicated to the multidisciplinary team (MDT), and that instructions are acted upon.
- Work flexibly across the organization to maintain safe staffing levels or as part of personal development.
- Maintain good quality, legible, contemporaneous patient health records in line with KCH policy.
- Participate in nursing audits as required.
- Report adverse incidents in line with KCH policy and participate in investigations.
- Be willing to assume a link role for the centre (e.g., infection control, nursing audits) and ensure staff are kept updated on specialist areas.

Education & Qualification
- UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) and registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
Experience
- Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years.
Training, Knowledge & Skills
- Awareness and understanding of King’s College Hospital (KCH) policies and initiatives.
- Resuscitation Certificate as per the specialty & Demonstrable ongoing and active CPD.
- Supports quality patient care by showing empathy, maintaining patient dignity, and following proper protocols.
- Supports and guides junior team members, offering advice and assistance if required.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and discretion, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
