Overview
Registered Midwife in Dubai, UAE is a specialized opportunity for a licensed maternity care professional who can provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based support to mothers and newborns while working closely with obstetricians, neonatologists, nurses, and allied health teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and compassionate maternity care across antenatal, labour, delivery, postnatal, and newborn care settings.
- Practice within the approved regulatory scope of practice, clinical competencies, and privileging requirements.
- Support spontaneous vaginal deliveries, assist with instrumental deliveries, and provide care during emergency or elective caesarean deliveries.
- Monitor labour progress, conduct CTG monitoring, interpret fetal heart rate patterns, and elevate concerns to the obstetrician when required.
- Assist obstetricians with procedures such as artificial rupture of membranes and sterile vaginal examinations where permitted by scope and competency.
- Provide immediate post-delivery care for mothers, including fundal massage, placental checks, blood loss monitoring, vital signs assessment, and escalation of abnormalities.
- Support immediate newborn care, including cord blood gases, newborn identification, initial physical assessment, vital signs monitoring, and escalation to neonatology when needed.
- Promote early breastfeeding, skin-to-skin bonding, maternal education, and newborn wellbeing in line with mother and baby friendly care principles.
- Create, implement, monitor, and evaluate care plans with the interprofessional team, the patient, and family members.
- Perform systematic patient assessment and reassessment, identify actual or potential midwifery concerns, and respond quickly to clinical changes.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, IV medications, blood products, and labour-related treatments while monitoring reactions closely.
- Maintain clinical readiness in obstetric emergencies, neonatal resuscitation, CTG interpretation, PROMPT, Basic Life Support, and other required life support skills.
- Provide wound care education and support after caesarean sections, episiotomy, and vaginal tears.
- Support safe patient admission, transfer, discharge, documentation, and care coordination for mothers and newborns.
- Offer compassionate bereavement support to parents during miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, congenital birth complications, or pregnancy loss.
- Follow all regulatory, safety, infection control, documentation, tissue disposal, and healthcare policy requirements.
Ideal Profile
- Licensed or eligible to work as a Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse with midwifery scope under the relevant UAE regulatory health authority.
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
- Strong clinical background in maternity, labour room, postnatal, newborn, and obstetric emergency care.
- Practical knowledge of antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, newborn, and family‑centred care.
- Ability to monitor labour progress, identify risks, interpret clinical signs, and elevate concerns without delay.
- Experience supporting spontaneous deliveries, caesarean care, newborn assessment, breastfeeding support, and maternal education.
- Confident communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively with obstetricians, neonatologists, nurses, allied health staff, patients, and families.
- Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, confidentiality, compassion, and continuous clinical learning.
- Willingness to work across departments when required and maintain professional re‑licensure.
