Job description
Position Summary

The American School of Dubai is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Registered Nurse. The ideal candidate is responsible for providing professional nursing services support to the ASD school community. The nurse will contribute their professional expertise, in partnership with a proactive health office team, to promote positive health and safety practices within the school setting. The Registered Nurse will report directly to the School Physician.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide first aid to students, faculty, and staff who are injured or ill while at school.
  • Participate in case management for students with chronic health conditions under their physician’s supervision.
  • Emergency assessment, care, and referral to community professional resources, with subsequent follow-up.
  • Develop emergency action plans for students with chronic medical conditions.
  • Practice in accordance with current child protection policies.
  • Communicable disease control through immunizations, screenings, and health education.
  • Participate in the identification of environmental health and safety hazards with recommended preventative measures.
  • Maintain and update all student health files.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student health records.
  • Liaise and provide in‑service training/education for ASD faculty as pertinent to students' health conditions.
  • Participate in the medical preparation of off‑campus trips, and travel with Week‑Without‑Walls trips and other overnight field trips.
  • Review immunization records and enter data into the Dubai Health Authority’s online Hasana system.
  • Administer vaccinations and provide counseling regarding potential adverse effects in accordance with Dubai Health Authority guidelines.
  • Provide first aid for major community events as requested by the school administration.
  • Organize and prepare first aid kits for off‑campus school field trips and sporting events.
  • Maintain and order health office equipment, supplies, and medications.
  • Report and implement requirements as determined by the Dubai Health Authority, including school visits and the maintenance of monthly statistics.
  • Maintain professional license and participate in professional development to ensure current scope of practice in nursing.
  • Perform other duties for student wellbeing as assigned by the supervising physician, including responsibilities outside of regular school hours.

Terms of Employment

General working hours are from 7 : 45 am - 3 : 45 pm, Monday through Thursday. On Wednesdays the Health Office holds its weekly team meetings from 3 : 45 - 4 : 45 pm. Friday hours are 7 : 45 am - 12 : 45 pm (on site) and 2 : 30 pm - 3 : 45 pm (remote/flexible). Rarely, there may be responsibilities outside of regular school hours.

All employees agree to abide by all child protection policies and procedures and agree to participate in all child protection training as mandated by the School as a condition of employment.
