Job description

In the position of E&S Regional Coordinator, the collaborator will oversee, monitor and continuously improve the environmental and social compliance of onshore wind and solar renewable projects and assets in the MENA region across origination, development, construction and operation phases for TotalEnergies and applicable international requirements if financed by lenders.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the focal point for all E&S topics related to the Company sustainability program and act as the Sustainability Officer for the MENA HUB.
• Coordinate transversally, report to the MENA HSSE Manager and functionally to HQ E&S France, provide weekly highlights, participate in regular team meetings and headquarter HSSE coordination meetings as required.
• Deploy and ensure effective implementation of Company E&S standards, procedures and sustainability programs across the HUB.
• Promote E&S awareness and training of HUB teams, support the return of experience (REX) and sharing of best practices.
• Participate in the Sustainable Officer Network, provide relevant stories and feedback, monitor the implementation of the HUB Sustainability action plan and promote the Company5Levers program in the MENA HUB.
• Provide E&S support to BD and PD during the development phase, ensuring projects comply with applicable laws, regulations, Company E&S standards, policies, commitments and international standards such as IFC, EBRD and ADB when necessary.
• Contribute to E&S risk assessment screenings (CORISK) for internal approval processes, committees and conduct ESDD due diligence on existing E&S documents provided by developers or business partners.
• Supervise the development of E&S studies (ESIA, ESMP, SEP, RAP, BAP) by defining technical scope, evaluating consultant proposals, performing quality control and reviewing deliverables within budget and timeline.
• Engage with external stakeholders, authorities, lenders and civil society during site visits and meetings until permits are obtained.
• Ensure implementation of E&S requirements during construction and operation phases by preparing HSE Annex for contractors, incorporating E&S study outcomes into EPC contracts, participating in EPC selection on E&S topics and reviewing and approving primary management plans (ESMP, waste, water, grievance mechanism, etc.).
• Monitor operations, control the proper implementation of mitigation measures, support local staff during lender technical advisor audits, and ensure proper implementation of One Maestro principles, deliverables and monitoring on E&S topics.
• Gather and consolidate annual Company reporting for projects and assets, including environmental KPIs, social actions and grievances, and ensure proper communication of data in Harpe and Agora tools.

Qualifications

• Diploma: HSE and risk management, environmental and social, sustainability.
• Professional Experience: Minimum 7 years in environmental, social or sustainability domains, with at least 3 years in renewable projects.
• Proven experience in managing and supervising ESIA/ESMP and related E&S studies (consultant management, review and approval).
• Experience with IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and ESDD (E&S due diligence) including compliance review and monitoring.
• HSE Audit certification (e.g., ISO14001 Lead Auditor) and experience with HSE management systems is strongly recommended.
