Job summary

Work standard in Ajman is seeking a Reference Librarian to assist library users with information, conduct research, and guide them to resources both in person and online.

You will manage reference requests, run information literacy sessions, maintain collections, and collaborate with colleagues to serve the community.

Required are a Bachelor's in Library Science and at least two years of experience in a library reference role; strong communication and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a librarian, preferably in a reference role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service and ability to work with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of library systems and electronic databases.
• Familiarity with information literacy concepts and practices.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference and research assistance to library users in person, over the phone, or through virtual communication methods.
• Help users navigate the library's collection and online resources.
• Conduct literature searches and assist with research projects.
• Instruct users on how to use library equipment and resources effectively.
• Develop and maintain subject-specific collections and reference materials.
• Plan and conduct workshops or training sessions for library users on information literacy skills.
• Collaborate with other librarians to develop programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
• Stay current with trends in information resources, technologies, and services.
• Assist with collection development by evaluating materials for acquisition.
