As a Recreation Manager you will be Responsible for leading and managing the resort’s luxury recreation and fitness operations, including pools, beach, and health club. The role ensures exceptional guest experiences, effective financial performance, and a motivated, well-trained team. Acts as a visionary leader who creates memorable, personalized experiences while maintaining InterContinental Hotels & Resorts® brand standards and operational excellence.

This role is responsible for establishing, leading, and directing a comprehensive luxury recreation and fitness operation within a resort setting away from the city, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while achieving financial, operational, and people objectives.

The role requires a visionary leader who takes ownership, anticipates guest needs, and creates memorable moments through thoughtful service, creativity, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Returns
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor the departmental business plan and budget with measurable targets in line with hotel objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with Sales & Marketing to effectively promote recreation, fitness, and wellness products and services.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances against budget, and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure optimal and efficient use of departmental resources.
  • Establish procedures to track, control, and report departmental operating costs.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial and performance reports.
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy in all point-of-sale operations and financial transactions.
People Management
  • Operate within the company’s Human Resource Management System to ensure a productive, motivated, and engaged team.
  • Plan staffing requirements and manage recruitment in line with company policies and guidelines.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive orientation and onboarding programs for new colleagues.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce guest-focused departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and design, implement, and deliver relevant training programs.
  • Identify high-potential colleagues and actively support their professional development.
  • Plan and manage bonus, commission, and incentive schemes in alignment with hotel standards and marketing budgets.
  • Maintain remuneration structures aligned with financial and business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate training records for all team members.
  • Conduct probation reviews and formal performance appraisals in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline colleagues constructively to enhance performance and engagement.
  • Approve leave requests while balancing operational requirements and business fluctuations.
  • Foster open communication and positive working relationships across departments.
Guest Experience
  • Ensure exceptional setup, maintenance, and operation of all recreation facilities including pools, beach, and health club.
  • Deliver attentive, personalized, and prompt service at all times to exceed guest expectations.
  • Design and implement creative, engaging, and value-added recreational activities for resort guests.
  • Source and manage external entertainment and activity providers to offer unique experiences that differentiate the resort from competitors.
  • Personally engage with guests by responding promptly and professionally to requests and feedback.
  • Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction and proactively enhance services based on guest feedback.
Accountability
  • Provide visionary leadership and overall accountability for the resort’s recreation operations.
  • Ensure the delivery of a healthy, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all resort guests and visitors.
  • Uphold InterContinental Hotels & Resorts® brand standards while driving innovation and excellence across all recreation services.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification
  • Qualifications in Leisure Management from a reputable institute
  • 3 to 5 years leadership, pre-opening experience of a luxury recreation facility of a five-star resort
