Job summary

Al Sahraa Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Radio Operator to manage and maintain all radio communications for our operations at the harbor.

The role requires excellent communication, strong organization, and a solid understanding of radio equipment and technology. You will handle communications with marine units and air/sea transporters, coordinate harbor movements, and log daily vessel activity.

Experience in oil and gas and a GMDSS license are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school (12) plus two years technical studies or two years certificate after secondary high school.
  • Certificate of proficiency in maritime radio / telephony or Marine Deck Officer.
  • Five (5) years experience in the field of similar duties preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • GMDSS License followed by a minimum of ten (10) years overall experience Second Mate marine qualified preferable.

Job description

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a Radio Operator to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The Radio Operator will be responsible for managing and maintaining all radio communications for our companys operations. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills be highly organized and have a strong understanding of radio equipment and technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handling the radio communication with all Marine Units / Helicopters / Flights calling to the location.
  • Establish and maintain communication with air and sea transporters for the safe arrival /departure.
  • Control all shipping and marine movements at location (harbor) under the direct supervision of the harbor master and ensure that vessels enter breathe and leave the harbor safely.
  • Observe all harbor operation issue shipping notices check navigational aids within harbor limits for defects and take and transmit meteorological data.
    - spread requirements for evacuation and rescue operations.
  • Execute telephone operator duties.
  • Log in / out all flight movements and gives clearance to pilots for takeoff / landing after getting approvals from island authorities.
  • Maintain daily logbook on all vessels movements in the harbor including other vessels taking shelter.
  • Issue daily reports on harbor marine activities
