Job summary

Henkel in Abu Dhabi invites a Packaging R&D Scientist to lead research, testing, and qualification of packaging materials for ongoing projects, enhancing performance, durability, and sustainability.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure SHE compliance, and manage lab equipment. A degree in Materials Science or related engineering, plus experience with CAD/3D printing and data analysis, is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of material science, packaging materials, polymers, and material properties.
• Familiarity with packaging laboratory equipment, testing methods, and laboratory operations.
• Strong digital skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of 3D printing, prototyping technologies, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software is an advantage.
• Hands-on mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to operate laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Execute packaging research, testing, and qualification activities for ongoing R&D projects, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, and technical specifications.
• Support the development and validation of innovative packaging materials, technologies, and solutions to enhance product performance and sustainability.
• Conduct laboratory testing, material characterization, and performance evaluations to assess packaging functionality, compatibility, stability, and durability.
• Analyze and interpret laboratory test results, prepare technical reports, and provide recommendations to support packaging development and optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to identify opportunities for packaging innovation, material improvements, and cost optimization.
• Support the achievement of circular economy and sustainability targets through research into recyclable materials, alternative packaging solutions, and packaging optimization.
• Ensure compliance with Henkel's corporate Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards, policies, and procedures.
• Manage packaging laboratory equipment, including calibration, maintenance, testing readiness, and proper utilization.
