Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly meticulous Quality Inspector to join our Supply Chain department. In this critical operational role, you will be the frontline safeguard for the Ebara Elliott Energy's Quality Management System, ensuring the absolute integrity of precision turbomachinery parts and components. Your primary focus will involve rigorous quality checks on critical materials destined for steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and both multistage and cryogenic pumps. By verifying that all incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and final products meet our stringent engineering standards, you will directly support our commitment to delivering world-class, reliable turbomachinery equipment.
Job Responsibilities
- Interpret Technical Documentation: Read, analyze, and accurately apply complex engineering documentation, including work orders, assembly and manufacturing blueprints, special instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and material specifications specific to turbomachinery.
- Execute Precision Measurements: Utilize a comprehensive array of manual and digital measuring devices to perform dimensional inspections, ensuring that turbine, compressor, and pump components strictly conform to drawing tolerances, quality standards, and completeness requirements.
- Conduct NDT Inspections: Perform thorough incoming, in-process, and final Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections across various stages of the supply chain lifecycle to identify surface and subsurface defects.
- Manage Quality Documentation: Initiate and process critical quality control documentation, including scrap and rework reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and comprehensive quality action reports to track and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain Equipment Calibration: Oversee the calibration processes and maintain meticulous logs for all inspection and measuring equipment, encompassing both company-issued quality centre tools and personally owned precision instruments.
- Verify Incoming Supply Chain Materials: Inspect, identify, and formally approve incoming raw materials and outsourced components, verifying they match engineering drawings and material specifications before being released to the floor.
- Execute Operational Priorities: Effectively manage daily workflow by receiving, prioritising, and adhering to inspection schedules and urgent operational targets set by supply chain management.
- Escalate Non-Conformances: Proactively identify, thoroughly document, and raise immediate awareness regarding any material or procedural non-conformances to the appropriate engineering and management teams.
- Uphold Safety and 5S Standards: Strictly adhere to all facility safety protocols and maintain workstations in a clean, organized, and highly functional operating condition.
- Author Inspection Reports: Draft clear, concise, and highly accurate inspection reports to maintain a permanent, traceable record for all evaluated parts.
- Validate Supplier Compliance: Review and analyse Material Test Reports (MTRs) provided by external suppliers to guarantee absolute compliance with Elliott's proprietary material specifications.
- Perform Final Release Inspections: Conduct rigorous final quality inspections on all finished turbomachinery parts and components prior to their approval for shipment or inventory storage.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of dedicated inspection and quality control experience within an industrial, manufacturing, or supply chain environment. Rotating Equipment & Turbomachinery experience with an OEM is highly preferred.
- NDT Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of core Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methodologies, specifically Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).
- Advanced Certifications (Preferred): Highly qualified candidates will possess an active ASNT Level 2 certification in Visual Testing (VT) or possess the prerequisite training to obtain it.
- Equipment Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing a broad spectrum of specialised NDT equipment and advanced precision measuring tools.
- Dimensional Tool Mastery: High proficiency in reading and operating manual and digital measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and related inspection instruments.
- NDT Hardware Operation: Practical familiarity with operating non-Destructive testing hardware, such as magnetic particle yokes/machines, ultrasonic flaw detectors, digital thickness indicators, and ultraviolet (black light) equipment.
- Technical Comprehension: Exceptional ability to accurately read and interpret complex mechanical scopes of work, detailed blueprints, special engineering procedures, and technical component specifications.
- Operational Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and alternating shifts as required to support fluctuating plant operations, production schedules, and supply chain demands.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; candidates with advanced or specialised technical training in quality control, metallurgy, or machining will be given strong preference.
- Software Skills: Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for report generation, data entry, and internal communication.
