Job Summary
Quality Control Manager organizes processes to meet quality standards at all stages of the project, preventing defects and monitoring compliance. These contributions help reduce risks, optimize costs, and increase customer confidence in the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement independent inspections of construction sites at all stages of the project.
- Analyse recorded violations and their rectification deadlines; monitor the performance of quality inspectors.
- Participate in matters related to the work of quality engineers on‑site.
- Review the completeness and compliance of inspectors’ input control documentation and the accuracy of recorded results.
- Inspect hidden works together with quality inspectors and perform selective intermediate acceptance of structural elements impacting the safety of the project.
- Verify contractor‑submitted works for the reporting period with respect to the completeness of supporting documentation and justification of executed scope (as required).
- In cases of critical non‑conformities, issue stop‑work orders jointly with the Project Manager.
- Conduct joint inspections of construction areas with the responsible inspector. Assignment of inspection tasks is coordinated through the Construction Manager.
- Plan and manage the activities of the Construction Supervision Department.
- Organise and oversee construction supervision activities.
- Allocate personnel across construction supervision areas as needed.
- Assess staffing requirements for supervision of construction and installation works.
- Provide guidance to staff on the specific requirements of various construction supervision tasks.
- Monitor timely execution of supervision activities across all facilities.
- Ensure proper implementation of maintenance conditions at project sites.
- Participate in final acceptance and commissioning committees for completed construction projects.
- Contribute to the improvement of the company’s business processes.
- Support the integration of information technologies in construction control.
- Assess the performance of subordinates and their alignment with departmental goals and tasks.
- Evaluate the quality of subordinate performance in accordance with applicable company regulations.
- Develop instructions and procedures within the department as needed.
- Encourage professional development and continuous training of staff, participate in recruitment and selection of candidates for departmental vacancies.
- Facilitate coordination and communication with other departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field. Postgraduate diploma or master’s degree in quality management or project management is an advantage. Attested academic certificates as per UAE standards may be required.
- Certifications: ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification (preferred or required by many companies), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent (ASQ or similar).
- Knowledge of UAE construction codes, regulations, and international standards (BS, ASTM, ACI).
- Experience with QA/QC documentation: ITPs, MIRs, NCRs, Method Statements, Material Approvals, Snag Lists, etc.
- Familiarity with local authority portals for document submission and inspections (e.g., Dubai Municipality eServices).
- 5+ years of relevant experience in QA/QC roles within UAE, GCC or global construction/development projects, preferably in high‑rise, mixed‑use or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of local authority requirements (e.g., Dubai Municipality, DDA, ADM).
- Proven track record in project handovers, inspections and final approvals.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD and QA/QC software such as Procore, Aconex, Plan Radar or equivalents.
