Job summary

ABIS is seeking a QC Inspector – Structural to oversee inspections and testing of structural steel fabrication and erection, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs and codes.

You will verify installation against drawings, witness bolting and welding, maintain inspection records, and support documentation for handover dossiers in a site-based role.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• QC/inspection certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final inspections on structural steel fabrication and erection works.
• Witness bolting, welding, and alignment checks per the ITP.
• Verify installation against drawings, erection plans, and tolerances.
• Verify materials against certificates and specs.
• Record inspection results and raise Non-Conformance Reports.
• Coordinate hold points and inspections with client/third-party inspectors.
• Maintain inspection records and daily QC reports.
• Verify calibration status of measuring equipment.
• Support punch-list generation and closure verification.
• Ensure work fronts comply with approved method statements and codes.
• Assist in preparing quality documentation for handover dossiers.

SECTION I: Job Summary

The QC Inspector – Structural performs inspection and testing of structural steel fabrication and erection activities to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.

SECTION II: Job Analysis

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final inspections on structural steel fabrication and erection works.
• Witness structural bolting, welding, and alignment checks per the ITP.
• Verify structural steel installation against approved drawings, erection plans, and tolerances.
• Verify materials (structural steel, bolts, coatings) against material certificates and specifications.
• Record inspection results and raise Non-Conformance Reports as required.
• Coordinate hold points and inspections with client/third-party inspectors.
• Maintain inspection records, checklists, and daily QC reports.
• Verify calibration status of measuring and test equipment used on site.
• Support punch-list generation and verification of closure for structural works.
• Ensure work fronts comply with approved method statements and structural codes (AISC, etc.).
• Support preparation of quality documentation for structural handover dossiers.
