Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Director Standards and Specifications Update to lead the review, validation, and enhancement of technical standards, guidelines, manuals, and specifications for a local authority in Abu Dhabi. This role involves project management, data analysis, stakeholder coordination, and the implementation of updates to ensure alignment with international best practices and sustainable infrastructure goals. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving improvements that maximize value, reduce lifecycle costs, and enhance the quality of infrastructure and transportation systems.

Project Management and Coordination
  • Oversee all project management, coordination, and administrative tasks related to the assignment.
  • Attend and actively participate in all project management meetings to ensure alignment with objectives.
Data Validation and Gap Analysis
  • Conduct a comprehensive validation and gap analysis of previous project submissions to identify areas for improvement.
Review of Previous Studies
  • Analyze previous studies conducted in Abu Dhabi and their outcomes.
  • Identify and select relevant proposed modifications to current documents based on these studies.
Benchmarking and Best Practices
  • Finalize benchmarking studies by comparing local, GCC, and international standards, guidelines, manuals, and specifications.
  • Identify and adopt best practices to achieve the goals of the review and modification process.
Proposing Updates and Enhancements
  • Develop proposals for updates, modifications, and enhancements to guidelines, manuals, and specifications.
  • Ensure all updates reflect the latest international best practices for sustainable infrastructure and transportation systems.
Value Engineering
  • Study the application of value engineering procedures in Abu Dhabi projects to maximize value, minimize lifecycle costs, and promote sustainability.
Review and Validation
  • Review all proposed updates and modifications to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with project goals.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and facilitate meetings and workshops to discuss and finalize agreed-upon modifications and updates.
Implementation of Updates
  • Implement all required updates and modifications to documents in compliance with official formats.
Case Study Validation
  • Conduct a case study on a completed project to validate that the proposed updates result in cost savings across the CAPEX and OPEX lifecycle.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven 15 years of experience in managing updates to technical standards, guidelines, and specifications, ideally within a government or local authority context.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, value engineering, and sustainable infrastructure practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct gap analyses and benchmarking studies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders and lead workshops effectively.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, project management tools).
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with Abu Dhabi’s local authority processes, including standards and specifications.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage.
