Job summary

Sener in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an experienced Project Director - LRT to lead a major Abu Dhabi LRT project. You will oversee the entire lifecycle from design review to handover, driving excellence in delivery and stakeholder engagement.

The role requires 20+ years of LRT delivery experience and demonstrates strong leadership of large multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Hybrid working arrangements and high-impact outcomes are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years of professional experience with mandatory hands-on LRT project delivery.
• Proven track record as Project Director or equivalent on LRT projects.
• Strong leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall delivery of major LRT and Tram projects from inception through completion.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to multidisciplinary project and engineering teams.
• Establish project delivery strategies and oversee project governance, planning, and execution activities.
• Manage relationships with clients, authorities, consultants, contractors, operators, and key project stakeholders.
• Ensure effective coordination across civil works, rolling stock, depot, utility, and operational interfaces.
• Monitor project performance and ensure achievement of programme, budget, quality, safety, and contractual objectives.
• Oversee testing and commissioning, systems integration, certification, and project handover activities.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and delivery performance across the project team.

At Sener, we deliver complex engineering projects that transform the way people move and connect. We are seeking an experienced Project Director - LRT with a minimum of 20 years of professional experience, including mandatory experience delivering Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects, to lead a major LRT project in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will bring extensive LRT project delivery experience, providing leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from design review and procurement to construction, systems integration, testing and commissioning, and project handover. Candidates may come from either a design or construction background but must demonstrate outstanding project management and leadership capabilities. The project includes stations, depot facilities, rolling stock, rail systems, civil works, and operational readiness activities.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 20 years of professional experience, including mandatory hands-on LRT project delivery experience.
• Proven experience delivering major LRT projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Previous experience as a Project Director, Programme Director, Delivery Director, or equivalent senior leadership role on LRT projects.
• Strong project management experience across design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, and project handover phases.
• Demonstrated experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and managing complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of LRT project delivery, project controls, risk management, and contract administration.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Project Director experience on GCC-based LRT or Tram projects.
• Experience within a Project Management Consultant (PMC), Engineer, or Employer’s Representative environment.
• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration.
• Experience delivering major LRT or Tram projects in the Middle East.
