Job summary

Sener invites an accomplished Project Director – LRT to lead a major light rail project in Abu Dhabi. You will steer design review, procurement, construction, testing and handover, guiding diverse teams through the full lifecycle with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and schedule.

The ideal candidate has 20+ years of experience, proven LRT delivery on large schemes, and prior senior leadership roles such as Project Director or Delivery Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years of professional experience.
• Mandatory hands-on LRT project delivery experience.
• Proven delivery of major LRT projects through design to handover.
• Senior leadership roles on LRT projects (Project Director, Programme Director, Delivery Director, or equivalent).
• Strong PM across design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, and handover.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall delivery of major LRT and Tram projects from inception through completion.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to multidisciplinary project and engineering teams.
• Establish project delivery strategies and oversee governance, planning, and execution.
• Manage relationships with clients, authorities, consultants, contractors, operators, and key stakeholders.
• Ensure coordination across civil works, rolling stock, depot, utility, and interfaces.
• Monitor performance and ensure programme, budget, quality, safety, and contractual objectives.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, systems integration, certification, and handover.
• Promote collaboration, technical excellence, and delivery performance across the project team.

At Sener, we deliver complex engineering projects that transform the way people move and connect. We are seeking an experienced Project Director – LRT with a minimum of 20 years of professional experience, including mandatory experience delivering Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects, to lead a major LRT project in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will bring extensive LRT project delivery experience, providing leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from design review and procurement to construction, systems integration, testing and commissioning, and project handover. Candidates may come from either a design or construction background but must demonstrate outstanding project management and leadership capabilities. The project includes stations, depot facilities, rolling stock, rail systems, civil works, and operational readiness activities.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Lead the overall delivery of major LRT and Tram projects from inception through completion.

2. Provide strategic leadership and direction to multidisciplinary project and engineering teams.

3. Establish project delivery strategies and oversee project governance, planning, and execution activities.

Job Requirements

1. Minimum 20 years of professional experience, including mandatory hands-on LRT project delivery experience.

2. Proven experience delivering major LRT projects throughout the project lifecycle.

3. Previous experience as a Project Director, Programme Director, Delivery Director, or equivalent senior leadership role on LRT projects.

4. Strong project management experience across design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, and project handover phases.

5. Demonstrated experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and managing complex stakeholder environments.

6. Strong understanding of LRT project delivery, project controls, risk management, and contract administration.

7. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

8. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Previous Project Director experience on GCC-based LRT or Tram projects.

2. Experience within a Project Management Consultant (PMC), Engineer, or Employer’s Representative environment.

3. Master’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration.

4. Experience delivering major LRT or Tram projects in the Middle East.
