Job summary

Sharjah Maritime Academy in the United Arab Emirates seeks an internationally credible academic to lead teaching and research in Maritime Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Business and related fields. The role requires publishing, grant applications, and supervision of postgraduate theses.

You will develop courses, deliver high-quality teaching, provide student mentorship, and build industry partnerships while advancing SMA’s research themes and regional impact.

Qualifications

• PhD in Maritime Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Business, Research Methods or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of academic experience after PhD, with Associate Professor or higher rank.
• Recognised qualification for teaching in Higher Education.
• Relevant industry body affiliation/membership preferred.
• Strong record of international research output and external funding.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate educationally effective teaching and assessment materials in Maritime Logistics, SCM, Maritime Business, Research Methods, and Applied Research.
• Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including dissertations and capstone projects.
• Set and mark coursework and examinations with timely, supportive feedback.
• Provide pastoral support to students at all levels of study.
• Deliver up to 2 credit hours teaching per term and supervise theses for additional credit.
• Hold or pursue a higher education teaching qualification (e.g., FHEA) or equivalent.
