Job summary

Sharjah Maritime Academy seeks an experienced academic leader to guide the institution's research strategy and innovation agenda. You will oversee the research budget and income, organize seminars, and lead efforts to raise the academy’s research profile with key stakeholders.

You will foster a collaborative research culture, support staff and students, and ensure research informs teaching while aligning with global best practices in applied higher education.

Qualifications

• Must have proven academic leadership in research and innovation.
• Evidence of successful grants, publications and impact.
• Strong understanding of digital learning technologies and research databases.
• Familiarity with UAE Higher Education landscape and policies.
• Fluent English communication and cross-cultural collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assist Provost and Vice Chancellor Academic to support strategic goals.
• Lead and manage Academy’s research profile and research budget/income.
• Organise seminars, conferences and symposia to enhance research profile.
• Provide strategic leadership and build a supportive research culture for staff and students.
• Foster a strong research community with tailored development and alignment to teaching.
• Collaborate with College Deans and partners to integrate research into programs.
• Develop postgraduate research and support post graduate taught programs.
• Champion the Academy’s digital research ecosystem with Librarian and staff.
• Monitor research provisions per UAE Ministry standards and drive improvements.
