A multinational engineering company in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Procurement Management professional. The role involves overseeing procurement processes, supplier management, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, 5-8 years of procurement experience, and strong negotiation skills. This position is primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
Job Description
Procure all required materials, supplies, services and equipment; prepare all relevant contract documentation and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of optimal quality and cost‑effective materials and services in line with the organisation’s needs to comply with business objectives in the short, medium and long terms through continuous improvement and in accordance with internal procedures.
Coordinate the procurement process from requisition to purchase order, ensuring materials and services meet operational and safety standards.
Investigate and identify new suppliers and alternative products / services within the UAE, GCC region, or internationally.
Implement, update and enforce all framework agreements and internal procedures related to procurement activities.
Work with various departments (e.g., operations, maintenance, QHSE) to determine requirements and specifications for needed materials and services.
Ensure timely delivery of goods and services required for operations, preventing delays.
Coordinate all logistics functions such as import and export of goods for local and international shipments and coordinate with clearing agents / customs representatives to clear shipments on time.
Maintain accurate records of all purchases, including purchase orders, invoices, and delivery notes.
Ensure the correct implementation of all relevant procurement policies and procedures.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the department head.
Assist in identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers to ensure the best quality, price, and delivery terms for materials and services.
Communicate with suppliers to negotiate prices, quantities, and delivery schedules, ensuring agreements align with company needs.
Monitor supplier performance, following up on issues related to delivery, quality, and compliance with contractual terms.
Build and maintain good relationships with key suppliers to foster cooperation and support in achieving operational goals.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, as well as local and international regulations.
Verify that all purchased materials meet required specifications and safety standards before acceptance and use in operations.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date procurement documentation for auditing and regulatory purposes.
Support regulatory inspections and audits related to procurement activities and materials handling.
Assist in managing the procurement budget by tracking costs and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
Ensure that all procurement activities stay within the allocated budget and adhere to financial guidelines.
Report any significant variations in cost and identify reasons for discrepancies to management.
Work with the inventory management team to ensure proper stock levels of materials, tools, and equipment.
Help to manage and control stock inventories, ensuring the timely replenishment of materials based on operational demand.
Oversee the proper storage and handling of hazardous materials, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory standards.
Ensure that all procured materials and equipment comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote sustainability initiatives by sourcing eco‑friendly products or suppliers that comply with environmental standards.
Monitor safety standards in procurement practices to reduce risk and ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
Provide regular reports on procurement activities, including purchase status and supplier performance.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to keep them informed of procurement progress and timelines.
Assist with planning and scheduling procurement to align with operational priorities and timelines.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. A degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, other Engineering, or related field may also be considered.
Additional certifications in procurement or supply chain management are advantageous.
5–8 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 3–4 years in an industrial or hazardous waste environment.
Experience with hazardous materials, safety regulations, and environmental compliance is preferred.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
Good knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and safety standards.
Ability to evaluate supplier performance and manage vendor relationships effectively.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple procurement tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in procurement software, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Based in Ruwais, UAE.
Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits to suppliers or project locations (approx. 25% of the time).
