Job summary

A major supplier in the steel industry in Dubai is seeking an experienced procurement specialist to oversee the supply of raw materials and engineering maintenance spares. The role requires strong negotiation skills, vendor management experience, and a degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in the UAE’s steel industry and excellent procurement skills. This position is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of working experience in a similar profile in UAE and steel industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge about raw material sourcing & connections with vendors.
• Experience in supply chain management & logistics.

Responsibilities

• Entire responsibility for continuous supply of raw materials and maintenance spares.
• Monitor vendor development and VQR/VDR in line with quality norms.
• Coordinate with Plant Manager for technically correct supplies and cost management.
• Manage inventory controls in coordination with the stores department.

Job description

• Entire Responsibility of continuous supply of Raw Materials, Engineering Maintenance spares, consumables, Inventory stock items in line with quality requirements from AGSI Approved list of suppliers to ensure smooth operations of plant.
• Cost Reduction targets all commodities to be followed up as a part of continuous Improvement process.
• Vendor Development & VQR / VDR monitoring in line with AGSI Quality & EHSMS norms (Includes vendor registration, approval & monitoring for new supplier).
• Critical supplier monitoring based on Product commodities Wise ABC Analysis
• Day to Day co-ordination with Plant Manager to procure technically correct supplies with close interactions with user department.
• Cost meeting reports on monthly basis including No of PR converted to PO‘s Buyer wise details, Cost Reductions achieved –Department report, List of New suppliers introduced, Value engineering for Spare parts development for monopolistic products.
• Inventory controls management in coordination with the stores department.
• Purchase order status Report to TOP Management -. Monthly basis.
• Supplier payment issues in co-ordination with A/c department.
• Ensure Import purchases in line with INCO TERMS.
• Exercise JIT for shorter lead time commodities.
• Establish Best credit facilities with suppliers in ordination with A/c department.
• Setting up Best Quality Policy for the Purchase Department through Operation Manual for Purchase Department.
• Setting up transparent Purchase practices in the department with standard supply chain principles.

• Expert in sourcing processes, control of procurement resources, activities for optimum cost-cutting potential and quality standards.

QUALIFICATION

• Mech / Electrical / Metallurgy Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum Qualification: Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.
• Post-Graduation preferable.
• MBA preferable.
• Knowledge of ERP.
