Job summary

Confidential in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Principal Traffic Engineer / Traffic Engineering Lead to lead and grow our Traffic Engineering practice.

You will oversee TIS, TMPs, access & circulation studies, and model with CUBE Voyager, Abu Dhabi STEAM, PTV Visum; manage clients and drive business development.

Requires 15-20 years of UAE traffic experience, strong leadership, and ability to deliver end-to-end transportation solutions for complex projects.

Qualifications

• 15–20 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
• Extensive hands-on experience with traffic studies and model development.
• Strong knowledge of Abu Dhabi/UAE authority requirements and approvals.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage client relationships.
• Experience with CUBE Voyager, STEAM, PTV Visum and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) and Transportation Master Plans (TMP).
• Oversee Access & Circulation Studies and other traffic engineering analyses.
• Develop strategic transport models using CUBE Voyager/Abu Dhabi STEAM and PTV Visum.
• Conduct traffic operational analysis with SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS and related software.
• Lead traffic forecasting, junction assessments, and development of improvement measures.
• Manage Abu Dhabi authority submission, reviews, and approvals.
• Mentor and build a team of traffic engineers and transport modellers.
• Manage client relationships and represent the company in technical/commercial meetings.
• Support business development, including proposals, scopes, and fees.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Principal Traffic Engineer / Traffic Engineering Lead to lead and grow our Traffic Engineering practice in Abu Dhabi. The role combines technical leadership, team management, client engagement, and business development.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and manage Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Transportation Master Plans (TMP), Access & Circulation Studies, and other traffic engineering studies.
• Develop and review strategic transport models using CUBE Voyager / Abu Dhabi STEAM and PTV Visum.
• Carry out and oversee traffic operational analysis using SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS, and related software.
• Lead traffic forecasting, junction/corridor assessments, access planning, and development of traffic improvement measures.
• Manage projects through Abu Dhabi authority submission, review, and approval processes.
• Lead, mentor, and build a team of traffic engineers and transport modellers.
• Manage client relationships and represent the company in technical and commercial meetings.
• Support business development, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, developing scopes and fees, and winning new work.

What Required Skills an Ideal Candidate Would Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Transportation Engineering or related discipline; Master's or PhD is desirable.
• 15-20 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
• Strong Abu Dhabi / UAE experience and good knowledge of local authority requirements and approval processes.
• Extensive hands-on experience in TIS, TMP, traffic operations, travel demand modelling, and traffic forecasting.
• Strong experience with CUBE Voyager / Abu Dhabi STEAM; ITC/DMT-approved STEAM modelling experience.
• Strong command of PTV Visum, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, and HCS; VISSIM experience is an advantage.
• Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
• Strong client management and business development experience, including proposals, tenders, and securing new work.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
