Job summary

EDGE seeks a Principal Engineer - Systems to lead major defence and mission-system programmes. You will guide systems engineering across requirements, architecture, integration, verification, and operational support, coordinating software, hardware, and networks.

You will drive interface management, trade studies, and technical risk assessments while mentoring diverse teams and engaging with stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Telecommunications, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of systems engineering in defence, aerospace or mission-critical environments.
• Proven experience delivering complex defence or integrated systems programmes.
• Experience in C2, C4ISR, tactical communications or secure systems.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and lifecycle processes.
• Experience managing technical interfaces and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering across defence and mission-system programmes.
• Drive requirements capture, decomposition, allocation, and traceability.
• Lead system architecture, interface management, integration, verification, and validation activities.
• Develop and review technical specifications, ICDs, integration plans, test procedures, and compliance docs.
• Conduct system analysis, trade-offs, design reviews, and risk assessments.
• Provide technical leadership across software, hardware, networking, cybersecurity, and testing teams.
• Engage with customers, suppliers, and programme stakeholders; mentor teams.
• Support C2, C4ISR, tactical communications, secure networking, and distributed mission systems.
