Job summary

Socium - Teams Done Differently in Abu Dhabi, UAE is seeking a Principal Product Designer with strong AI/GenAI product design expertise. You will lead visually compelling, end-to-end digital product experiences as a hands-on IC and mentor junior designers.

The role requires designing for AI-powered workflows and enterprise applications, collaborating with PMs, AI/ML engineers, and software teams. Onsite work in Abu Dhabi is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Join a leading AI and technology organization in Abu Dhabi, UAE, working across innovative AI-powered products, Generative AI applications, intelligent enterprise platforms, and digital transformation initiatives.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Product Designer with a strong background in AI/GenAI Product Design, UI/UX Design, Visual Design, Interaction Design, and end-to-end Digital Product Design.

This is a hands-on Individual Contributor (IC) role, not a purely managerial or strategic position. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing visually compelling, intuitive, and high-quality digital product experiences while providing design guidance and mentorship to junior designers.

The ideal candidate must have a strong, recent Product/UI design portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual design skills, hands-on execution, and experience working on complex digital products, ideally including AI-powered applications.

The role involves working across multiple projects, collaborating with Product Managers, AI/ML Engineers, Software Engineers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on Product Design, UI/UX Design, Visual Design, and Interaction Design across multiple AI-powered digital products and enterprise applications.
• Design intuitive and visually compelling interfaces for AI/GenAI applications, intelligent platforms, and complex digital products.
• Translate business requirements, AI capabilities, and user needs into user-centered digital experiences.
• Develop user journeys, wireframes, high-fidelity UI designs, interactive prototypes, and production-ready design specifications.
• Create and maintain Design Systems, reusable UI components, and consistent visual design standards.
• Design user experiences for AI-powered workflows, intelligent assistants, conversational interfaces, and data-driven applications.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, AI/ML Engineers, Software Engineers, and cross-functional teams throughout product development.
• Conduct design reviews, present design concepts, and ensure high-quality implementation of UI/UX designs.
• Remain actively involved in hands-on design execution while providing design direction and guidance.
• Coach and mentor junior designers, both remote and onsite, to improve design quality and consistency.

Required Experience

• Strong professional experience in Product Design, UI/UX Design, Visual Design, and Interaction Design, operating at Principal, Staff, Lead, or equivalent senior level.
• Strong background or relevant experience in AI/ML, Generative AI, AI-powered products, or intelligent digital applications.
• Recent, visually strong Product/UI design portfolio is essential, clearly demonstrating personal design contributions and high-quality UI execution.
• Proven experience as a hands-on Individual Contributor (IC), independently designing and delivering digital products.
• Strong expertise in Figma or equivalent design tools, high-fidelity prototyping, wireframing, and interaction design.
• Experience designing complex digital platforms, enterprise applications, SaaS products, or AI-powered user experiences.
• Strong knowledge of Design Systems, UI components, visual hierarchy, usability, and user-centered design principles.
• Ability to translate complex product requirements and AI-driven workflows into intuitive and visually polished interfaces.
• Experience collaborating with Product Managers, Engineers, and cross-functional product teams.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, and providing design feedback to junior designers.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work fully onsite in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Preferred Experience

• Experience designing Generative AI applications, AI copilots, conversational AI, intelligent assistants, or Agentic AI platforms.
• Exposure to LLM-powered products, AI/ML workflows, human-AI interaction, and intelligent automation.
• Previous experience in an AI-focused technology company, enterprise SaaS organization, or product-led technology environment.
• Experience designing enterprise dashboards, data visualization interfaces, and complex digital workflows.
• Experience mentoring distributed design teams and working across multiple product initiatives.
• Understanding of accessibility, responsive design, and modern UI/UX best practices.

• Contract Duration: 6 Months Initially - Possible Extension
