Job description

Container Platform

Principal Product Architect — Container Platform

Location Remote · anywhere · 4h Dubai overlap · full- or part-time

Reports to Chief Technology Officer

Own the engine at the heart of Bahriya — the container platform that runs every customer workload across our regions — the way a business-unit owner owns a product. You take over its business proposition, its architecture, its roadmap, and its ongoing enhancement, and you own the experience of deploying and operating containers, from the first design decision to the running system.

  • Own the business proposition for the container platform — what it should become, who depends on it, and why it wins. You plan and design the roadmap that gets it there.
  • Own the architecture and roadmap of the container platform — the orchestration, ingress, autoscaling, and networking that every deployment relies on.
  • Maintain and evolve the enterprise Kubernetes distribution the platform runs on — cluster lifecycle and upgrades across every region, kept healthy and current.
  • Own the operators, controllers, and Helm charts that provision and reconcile customer workloads, and the volume-storage layer — epoxy scratch and replicated persistent volumes that survive restarts.
  • Drive its enhancement: performance, resilience, region expansion, and the capabilities that make deploying a container genuinely simple.
  • Own the product surface — how containers, workers, cron jobs, path rules, network policies, and volume storage are configured across Console, CLI, Terraform, and API.
  • Implement across the whole stack: the platform internals, the API that fronts them, and the deploy path that ships customer workloads.
  • Carry it in production — the reliability and operational health of the layer everything else runs on.
What we look for
  • Deep experience operating container orchestration platforms at scale (Kubernetes and its ecosystem) — ingress, TLS, autoscaling, and multi-region networking.
  • Hands-on experience running and maintaining an enterprise Kubernetes distribution in production — cluster lifecycle, upgrades, and the day-to-day operational reality of keeping it healthy.
  • Writing and maintaining Kubernetes operators (custom controllers and CRDs) and Helm charts — the platform is provisioned and reconciled through them.
  • Storage depth — CSI drivers, epoxy scratch, and replicated persistent block volumes, and the failure modes that come with stateful workloads.
  • The ability to architect the platform and write the code — you own decisions and their implementation, not one or the other.
  • Strong backend and systems engineering (we work primarily in Go and PHP) and infrastructure automation.
  • The product instinct to hide operational complexity behind a simple, honest experience, and the humility and integrity to hold the line on quality.
Nice to have
  • Experience building a platform or developer product that others deploy onto.
  • Infrastructure-as-code fluency (Terraform) and CI/CD systems design.
The arrangement

These apply to this and every role at Bahriya.

Remote, anywhere

Every role is fully remote. Work from wherever you are in the world — we engage on a consultancy basis, not by location.

Four-hour Dubai overlap

Bahriya runs on the Dubai working day. Wherever you are, we ask for at least four hours of daily overlap so we can work as one team, in real time.

Fluent English, spoken and written

We work and write in English across the whole team. Clear, fluent English — both spoken and written — is essential, because how you explain your thinking is part of the work.

Full-time or part-time

We would rather have the right person part-time than the wrong person full-time. Serious part-time candidates are genuinely welcome.

Here to build, not just employed

You work at Bahriya because you love making things that are meaningful and beautiful — not because you simply need a job. We hire for that difference, and it shows in everything we ship.

Quality over speed — always

We optimise for doing things well, not fast. We would always rather ship the right thing correctly than the quick thing twice. This is non-negotiable.

World-class infrastructure, built from the Islamic world, on merit and trust. If this is the work you want to do, we want to hear from you.
