Job summary

ADVANCED CONCEPTS, within EDGE, seeks a senior Power Electronics lead to define roadmaps and drive development of high‑efficiency power systems. You will guide design of DC‑DC converters, inverters, and motor drives, integrating electronics with control algorithms across electromechanical platforms.

The role requires 15+ years in power electronics, strong PCB/analytical skills, and expertise in EMC/EMI, thermal management, and simulation toolchains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field. PhD is a plus.
• 15+ years of experience in power electronics design, system integration, and validation for high‑performance systems.
• Proven expertise in designing and optimizing converters, inverters, and motor drive systems for complex applications.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement technical roadmaps for power electronics and hardware design.
• Lead the design and optimization of advanced DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor drives.
• Oversee circuit design and PCB development using Altium Designer with focus on signal integrity and manufacturability.
• Utilize MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice for system modeling and analysis.
• Lead prototyping and validation of power systems including HIL simulations and field testing.
• Develop and optimize control algorithms for electric drives, including FOC and DTC.

Core Accountabilities:

• Define and implement technical roadmaps for power electronics and hardware design.
• Provide strategic direction for integrating simulation tools, circuit design, and prototyping workflows to drive innovation in system development.
• Lead the design and optimization of advanced DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor drives for high-efficiency applications.
• Drive advanced topologies tailored for energy management, high-performance devices, and compact designs.
• Oversee circuit design and PCB development using Altium Designer, ensuring signal integrity, thermal efficiency, and manufacturability.
• Utilize simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, and LTspice to model and analyze system behaviors.
• Lead prototyping efforts, including validation of power systems and rapid iteration to meet system-level requirements.
• Oversee machine design projects, integrating power electronics with motor systems and sensors for seamless operation.
• Ensure cohesive operation of hardware, software, and control algorithms in electromechanical systems.
• Conduct comprehensive testing of hardware and software systems, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations and field testing.
• Oversee the seamless integration of power electronics into larger systems, addressing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), thermal performance, and reliability.
• Develop and optimize advanced control algorithms for electric drives, including trapezoidal control, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and Direct Torque Control (DTC).

Qualification / Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field. Advanced certifications or a PhD in Power Electronics is a plus.
• 15+ years of experience in power electronics design, system integration, and validation, with a focus on high-performance systems.
