Job summary

EDGE Advanced Concepts seeks an accomplished power electronics leader to define roadmaps, drive hardware design, and optimize high-efficiency DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor drives. You will guide simulation-driven development, prototype validation, and seamless integration with control systems.

The role requires 15+ years in power electronics, hands-on circuit/PCB experience, and leadership across hardware, software, and control teams. UAE-based, on-site work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 15+ years in power electronics design and system integration.
  • Proven experience with high-performance converters and motor drives.
  • Experience with PCB design and thermal/EMC considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement technical roadmaps for power electronics and hardware design.
  • Provide strategic direction for integrating simulation tools, circuit design, and prototyping workflows.
  • Lead the design and optimization of DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor drives.
  • Oversee circuit design and PCB development using Altium Designer.
  • Utilize MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice to model system behavior.
  • Lead prototyping, validation, and rapid iteration for system-level requirements.
  • Integrate power electronics with motor systems and sensors in electromechanical sets.
  • Ensure cohesive operation of hardware, software, and control algorithms.
  • Conduct hardware/software testing including HIL and field tests.
  • Address EMC, thermal performance, and reliability in larger systems.
  • Develop advanced control algorithms including FOC and DTC.

  • Drive advanced topologies tailored for energy management, high-performance devices, and compact designs.

  • Oversee circuit design and PCB development using Altium Designer, ensuring signal integrity, thermal efficiency, and manufacturability.

  • Utilize simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, and LTspice to model and analyze system behaviors.

  • Lead prototyping efforts, including validation of power systems and rapid iteration to meet system-level requirements.

  • Oversee machine design projects, integrating power electronics with motor systems and sensors for seamless operation.

  • Ensure cohesive operation of hardware, software, and control algorithms in electromechanical systems.

  • Conduct comprehensive testing of hardware and software systems, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations and field testing.

  • Oversee the seamless integration of power electronics into larger systems, addressing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), thermal performance, and reliability.

  • Develop and optimize advanced control algorithms for electric drives, including trapezoidal control, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and Direct Torque Control (DTC).
