Role Summary

The Pricing Actuary is responsible for developing and implementing pricing strategies for the Personal Lines portfolio across UAE

and Bahrain. You will use technical model outputs, market insights, and portfolio inputs to recommend and implement pricing

strategies that deliver best-in-class pricing outcomes. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders — including underwriting,

also support regulatory pricing reports, product registration, and the ongoing research and development of pricing capabilities.

  • Deliver best-in-class, technically sound pricing recommendations in line with Liva's pricing governance standards and Pricing Principles
  • Work closely with Liva counterparts across underwriting, portfolio, finance, and risk management teams
Key Responsibilities
1. Pricing Strategy & Model Development
  • Utilise technical model outputs, market insights, and portfolio inputs to recommend go-to-market pricing strategies for the Personal Lines portfolio across UAE and Bahrain.
  • Build and maintain GLM/Machine learning burn cost pricing models, incorporating minimum bias procedures and appropriate frequency and severity distributions.
  • Overlay strategic and commercial considerations on technical model outputs to arrive at final go-to-market pricing recommendations.
  • Assist in the pricing and development of new products across UAE and Bahrain.
  • Apply best-practice pricing capability, including ways of working, pricing techniques, and collaboration with the broader portfolio team.
  • Monitor market and portfolio developments to ensure pricing assumptions remain current and competitive.
2. Pricing Model Build & Validation
  • Design, build, and validate technical pricing models to support Personal Lines pricing decisions.
  • Apply generally accepted statistical distributions for frequency and severity modelling, and validate model outputs against actual experience.
  • Apply reserving procedures used in deterministic methods where relevant to pricing assumptions.
  • Collaborate with actuarial and portfolio teams to evolve pricing models in line with changing business and market requirements.
  • Explain model outputs and pricing recommendations clearly to a wider, non-technical audience.
  • Identify and address data gaps that affect the completeness or reliability of pricing models.
3. Pricing Governance & Quality
  • Apply best-practice pricing governance and risk management, ensuring pricing meets customer promises and Liva's Pricing Principles.
  • Implement quality checks and validation routines to confirm the accuracy of pricing outputs before go-to-market implementation.
  • Identify, document, and resolve pricing and data anomalies in coordination with source system owners.
  • Build and maintain structured tools to track regulatory pricing requirements and ensure timely incorporation of regulatory changes.
  • Ensure pricing changes are correctly linked to technical and financial hierarchies.
4. Pricing Systems & Implementation
  • Implement and code go-to-market pricing changes in the pricing engine (e.g., WTW Radar/Emblem or equivalent).
  • Isolate and manage deployment of pricing changes on a channel-wise basis, ensuring independent versioning, testing, and release across distribution channels.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and IT teams to ensure pricing logic is translated accurately into production systems.
  • Support system testing and validation of pricing changes prior to release.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, including portfolio, underwriting, and finance teams, to agree go-to-market prices.
  • Assist with the design and build of monitoring reports to track portfolio performance against pricing assumptions.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on pricing performance, model outputs and project progress.
  • Act as the bridge between technical pricing outputs and business teams, ensuring pricing initiatives deliver tangible business value.
6. Technical Development & Research
  • Undertake ad hoc assignments relating to research and development of pricing capabilities.
  • Stay current with emerging pricing techniques, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in pricing processes, tooling, and ways of working across the team.
7. Financial Reconciliation & Audit
  • Support finance reconciliations of expense, commission, and reinsurance (RI) data at vertical and product level, ensuring alignment with finance records.
  • Support claims and premium audit checks, including logical validations, to detect anomalies, inconsistencies, and data integrity issues across the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with finance, actuarial, and underwriting teams to investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks and audit findings in a timely manner.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Competencies Required
