Job summary

Wood is seeking a Senior Operations Readiness & Accountability (ORA) Engineer for ADNOC Offshore in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on leading Operational Readiness, digitalization, and the development of procedures to ensure safe, efficient handover from project execution to operations.

Requires 15+ years in oil & gas with at least 5 years in OR within PMC/EPC environments; Bachelor's in Engineering is mandatory, master's preferred for progression.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or industrial project experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in Operational Readiness within PMC/EPC environments.
  • Experience with digital transformation and operational excellence programs is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; master's degree preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Operational Readiness strategy and execution plan.
  • Coordinate OR activities across engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Ensure all operational deliverables are completed before project handover.
  • Lead digitalization initiatives, asset information management, and data quality improvements.
  • Support MOC activities related to operational documentation.

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Senior ORA Engineer (LOM, Digitalization, Process & Procedures) for our client ADNOC Offshore project in Abu Dhabi as part of our instrument engineering within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.

Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based at our client office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities

The Senior Operations & Readiness Engineer is responsible for leading Operational Readiness, digitalization initiatives, and the development of operational processes and procedures for major capital projects. The role ensures that all systems, documentation, personnel, and digital platforms are prepared to support a safe, efficient, and seamless transition from project execution to operations.

Operational Readiness
  • Develop and implement the Operational Readiness (OR) strategy and execution plan.
  • Coordinate OR activities across engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Ensure all operational deliverables are completed before project handover.
  • Monitor OR progress and report readiness status to project management.
  • Facilitate operational risk assessments and mitigation plans.
Digitalization
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives supporting project execution and operations.
  • Implement digital tools for document management, asset information, workflow automation, and reporting.
  • Coordinate integration of engineering, commissioning, maintenance, and operational data.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with client digital standards.
  • Support development of digital dashboards, KPIs, and analytics for operational performance.
  • Coordinate digital handover requirements and Asset Information Management (AIM).
Process & Procedures
  • Develop, review, and update operational policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operational manuals, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure procedures comply with client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate procedure reviews with operations, maintenance, HSE, and engineering teams.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to operational documentation.
Operations Support
  • Coordinate Operations and Maintenance (O&M) readiness activities.
  • Support development of maintenance strategies and preventive maintenance plans.
  • Coordinate spare parts, critical equipment, and operational resources.
  • Support startup, performance testing, and plant stabilization activities.
  • Ensure all operational documentation is complete before handover.
Training & Competency
  • Develop operational training plans and competency matrices.
  • Coordinate training sessions for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure training materials and digital learning resources are available.
  • Verify competency assessments before facility startup.
Handover & Closeout
  • Coordinate project-to-operations handover activities.
  • Ensure completion of handover dossiers, asset registers, and digital records.
  • Verify punch list closure related to operational readiness.
  • Support final acceptance and project closeout documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline).
  • Master's degree is an advantage.
  • Mimum 15 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or industrial projects.
  • Minimum 5 years in Operational Readiness within a PMC or EPC environment.
  • Experience in digital transformation and operational excellence programs is highly desirable.
