Job description

Job Title - Planning Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Planning Engineer to support our construction and real‑estate development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring and controlling project schedules, coordinating with multi‑discipline teams, and ensuring project milestones are achieved on time, within budget and according to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed project programme schedules (Gantt charts, network logic, critical path) for construction projects across residential, commercial or institutional segments.

Coordinate with project managers, design teams, procurement, construction and QA/QC functions to ensure schedule alignment and resource availability.

Monitor progress against baseline schedule: track actuals, update schedule status, highlight delays, perform time impact analysis, propose corrective actions.

Analyse schedule risks, constraints and bottlenecks; recommend mitigation plans and resource adjustments to maintain project pace.

Prepare periodic reports and dashboards: milestone achievement, schedule variance, Earned Value metrics (where applicable), and present to project leadership.

Support procurement and logistics teams by aligning material delivery schedules and work front readiness with overall programme.

Assist in integration of BIM, project controls software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc) and collaborate in implementing best‑in‑class planning tools and practices.

Ensure alignment of project schedule with budget, contract commitments, change orders and resource allocations.

Conduct site visits when needed to validate works progress, compare against schedule, update data and raise issues or delays.

Provide guidance and training to site teams and contractors on schedule requirements, sequence logic and milestone importance.

Assist in project close‑out activities: final phase scheduling, punch‑list completion, as‑built updates and hand‑over milestones.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.

Minimum 3‑5 years experience as a Planning Engineer or Project Controls Engineer in construction or real‑estate development projects, preferably in the UAE/GCC region.

Strong proficiency with planning tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent; solid understanding of critical path method (CPM) scheduling.

Good knowledge of construction processes, trades sequence, site production rates, resource loading and contract milestones.

Excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills; able to present complex programme information to stakeholders.

Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.

Valid UAE driving licence is a plus (if site visits are required).

Key Competencies & Behaviours

Detail‑oriented and organised: maintains accuracy in schedules, reports and updates.

Proactive and problem‑solving: anticipates delays or conflicts and drives corrective actions.

Collaborative and influential: works well across design, construction, procurement and logistics teams and influences timelines.

Results‑driven: focused on achieving milestones, meeting deadlines and supporting project success.

Adaptable and resilient: comfortable in a dynamic construction environment with changing priorities.

Integrity and professional: maintains high standards of accountability and ethical behaviour.

What We Offer

Competitive salary and benefits aligned with the UAE construction market and experience.

Opportunity to work on large‑scale development or construction projects, with significant scope and responsibility in planning and controls.

Exposure to advanced planning tools, professional growth and cross‑discipline collaboration within a growing construction firm.
