Job description

Responsibilities

Develop and implement customized training programs for pets based on breed, age, temperament and owner goals, ensuring positive reinforcement techniques are consistently applied. Conduct daily care routines including feeding, grooming, exercise and sanitation for a variety of animals, maintaining impeccable hygiene standards to prevent illness. Safely handle and manage multiple pets simultaneously during training sessions, walks and social interactions, always prioritizing animal welfare and public safety. Assess animal behavior and identify potential issues such as anxiety, aggression or fear, developing and executing intervention strategies to address them.

Qualifications

Possess a strong educational foundation, ideally with a degree or significant coursework in Animal Behavior, Zoology, Veterinary Technology, or a related field. Hold professional certifications from reputable organizations such as the CCPDT, IAABC, or equivalent, demonstrating a commitment to standardized training practices. Accumulate a minimum of 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in professional animal handling and behavior modification, preferably in a shelter, training facility, or veterinary clinic setting. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in positive reinforcement training techniques and a deep understanding of animal learning theory.
