Job summary

Remitly is seeking a senior regulatory attorney to drive expansion initiatives across MEAPAC, oversee licensing with financial regulators in India, the Middle East and APAC, and advise on applicable regulatory frameworks for financial institutions.

You will monitor evolving payment laws, review and negotiate agreements with banks and processors, support government relations, and coordinate with external counsel across jurisdictions. Fluency in English and AI experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of legal practice experience, preferably in-house or at a top law firm.
• Experience in financial services, specifically payments agreements and product development.
• Direct experience with licensing processes and hands-on interaction with regulators.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian payments regulations and industry standards.
• Experience managing external counsel and leading cross-functional legal projects.
• AI fluency.
• Full professional proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Support expansion initiatives across MEAPAC, including regulatory feasibility assessments and market entry strategies
• Manage licensing and authorization processes with financial regulators in India, the Middle East, and APAC
• Advise on regulatory frameworks applicable to financial institutions in MEAPAC jurisdictions
• Monitor changes in payment-related laws and advise on product and service adjustments
• Review and negotiate strategic agreements with banks, payment processors, and other regulated entities
• Support government relations and compliance teams with regulatory correspondence
• Manage and collaborate with external counsel across various jurisdictions
