Job summary

PPOAR in Dubai, UAE is seeking a part-time Librarian to organize and maintain the library collection, assist patrons, and deliver excellent service. You will catalogue materials, answer reference questions, and help plan displays.

The role requires English fluency, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work evenings and weekends. Accommodation is offered for the right candidate; prior library experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with cataloguing systems such as Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain library collection by cataloguing books, periodicals, and other materials.
• Assist patrons with finding resources and answering reference questions.
• Provide excellent customer service to all library visitors.
• Process new materials for the library collection.
• Create displays and promote new materials to increase circulation.
• Keep track of library inventory and order new materials as needed.
• Train and supervise library volunteers or interns.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment in the library.
• Collaborate with other librarians to plan and implement programs or events.
• Stay up-to-date with current trends in library science and technology.
