Job summary

A leading air medical service provider in the UAE is seeking a Flight Paramedic to ensure safe transport of critical patients. The candidate must have a Masters in Emergency Medical Care and relevant certifications. Responsibilities include managing patient care during transport and ensuring aircraft readiness. Minimum 5 years paramedic experience required, with at least 1 year in air medical service.

Qualifications

Job description
Overview

To establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport of critical patients to the appropriate facility; qualified to provide care for patients and responsible for carrying out the mission and goals in order to conduct helicopter utility functions in Search & Rescue, aero medical evacuation and HEMS tasks of Air Methods assuring that safety remains the highest priority. Need to comply with UAE Air Force military documentation pertaining to flying operations and SAR duties.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care for patients during transport including infants (1-12 months), children (1-12 years), adolescents (13-17 years), adults (18 - 72 years), and geriatric (72+ years).
  • Responsible for effectively managing the Plan of Care for each patient based on appropriate standards, policies and procedures.
  • Checks that the aircraft is stocked with appropriate supplies and equipment and ensures that all equipment is accounted for as per completion of the daily checklist.
  • Completes a thorough patient examination and history on each patient encountered and develops an appropriate plan of care based upon the findings.
  • Provides prompt and compassionate patient care that is clinically appropriate based on the SAR Flight Paramedic’s training, paramedic registration regulations and company protocols.
  • Carefully packages and moves the patient in such a way as to not aggravate the patient’s condition or to cause injury.
  • Ensures safe transportation of the patient to an appropriate destination while providing constant monitoring of the patient’s condition and providing any necessary treatment or intervention to their level of licensure or certification while en‑route.
  • Notifies the senior or Chief Flight Paramedic of the aircraft movements, departure and arrival times as well as patient condition and interventions performed en‑route.
  • Ensures a proper transfer of care at destination including notification of medical Personnel and leaving a copy of the patient care report.
  • Prompt cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking of all equipment necessary to ensure the SAR Aircraft’s availability to return to service as soon as possible.
  • Unless relieved by another higher-qualified individual, directs all aspects of pre-hospital patient care.

Qualification

Masters in Emergency Medical Care or equivalent

Must possess a flight medical assistant (FMA) or aviation health care providers (AHCP) certification or HEMS experience.

Must possess current AHA CPR certification for both adult and child (Healthcare provider)

Advance Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)

Pediatric Advance Life Support Certification (PALS)

Pre hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS / ITLS)

Desired to have CRM / HUET or dangerous goods

Experience

Must have 5 years experience as a Paramedic (of which at least 1 year shall be in air medical service)

Minimum 2 years post – Graduation

At least 1 year HEMS
