Job description
Ground Safety Officer

Ground Safety Officer will serve as principal advisor to the Ground Safety Manager and Program Manager on all ground safety matters. Responsible for advising and aiding the Ground Safety Manager in developing and managing a command ground safety program. Coordinate all ground safety matters among the Command’s Staff and maintain and report appropriate detailed ground safety records and mishap statistics. Recommend and establish required corrective safety actions. Collect, analyze and communicate actionable information to assist Commanders in preserving / protecting military combat resources.

Responsibilities
  1. Formulate a safety management system for all ground activity.
  2. Incorporate safety standards and procedures for all ground functions and activities.
  3. Coordinate all safety matters among an organization staff.
  4. Formally investigate ground mishaps and incidents.
  5. Identify hazards and risk in daily ground activity.
  6. Establish a Safety Council for setting goals, managing assets, and reviewing safety‑related requirements and recommendations.
  7. Track and report safety deficiencies, inspections, incidents, violations and corrective action.
  8. Practice and promote safety awareness.
  9. Establish safety training to promote hazard awareness and integrate safety in unit activities.
  10. Communicate actionable information to assist Commanders in preserving / protecting military combat resources.
  11. Collaborate with customer safety & standardization on a regular basis and convey ground safety incident reports once occurred.
  12. Establish and promote a Just Safety Culture for the program.
Qualifications
  • Diploma (Aircraft Maintenance).
  • Certification from a recognized Aviation Safety Course; Accident Avoidance Training; Composite Risk Management (CRM) Training; and Hazardous Materials Training.
Experience

Minimum of 5 years direct related military experience as a unit Safety Officer or 10 years direct related civilian experience as a safety professional.
