Job summary

The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai seeks a Network Engineer, Infrastructure & Disaster Recovery to maintain enterprise LAN/WAN, SD‑WAN and data‑centre networks. You will secure connectivity via firewalls and VPNs, monitor performance, resolve incidents and ensure DR readiness across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/CE/Telecommunications/IS or related field.
• CCNP-Enterprise or equivalent current certification.
• 5+ years in enterprise network infrastructure with high availability and disaster recovery.
• Hands-on admin of LAN/WAN/Data‑centre/WLAN/SD‑WAN with Cisco/Juniper/Aruba.
• Experience in routing/switching: VLANs, trunking, LACP, STP, OSPF, BGP, QoS.
• SD‑WAN experience (Cisco Viptela or equivalent).
• Firewall administration: Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ASA/FTD; policies, NAT, VPNs.
• Network segmentation (VXLAN/NSX‑T/ACI).
• App delivery/load balancing (F5, Citrix ADC).
• Monitoring/troubleshooting with SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark.
• Edge/CDN/WAF: Akamai Kona Site Defender, App & API Protector.
• Azure hybrid connectivity, ExpressRoute; AKS connectivity.
• Container networking: Calico/Flannel/Canal; Portworx.
• Terraform and Ansible for automation.
• Network high availability, failover, disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Network Engineer, Infrastructure & Disaster Recovery is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organisation’s enterprise network infrastructure across primary, disaster-recovery and approved cloud environments. The Network Engineer ensures reliable, secure and resilient network connectivity by administering network devices and services, monitoring performance, resolving incidents, implementing approved changes and maintaining network recovery readiness.

Network Infrastructure Administration

• Administer, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless and data-centre network environments.
• Configure and support switches, routers, wireless infrastructure and related network services in accordance with approved designs and standards.
• Maintain routing, switching, network segmentation, connectivity and redundancy configurations.

Network Security and Secure Connectivity

• Administer enterprise firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, remote-access VPNs and secure-connectivity services within the assigned operational scope.
• Maintain approved firewall rules, network objects, security zones, network address translation and segmentation controls.
• Support periodic firewall-rule and network-access reviews in coordination with Cybersecurity.

Network Monitoring and Performance

• Monitor network availability, performance, traffic utilisation and capacity across network devices, wireless infrastructure, firewalls and connectivity services.
• Diagnose and resolve network outages, latency, packet loss, congestion, routing instability and wireless-connectivity issues.
• Analyse logs, traffic flows, interface statistics and packet captures to identify faults and recurring performance problems.

Cloud and Hybrid Network Support

• Maintain approved cloud and hybrid-network connectivity, including virtual networks, gateways, routing, network-security configurations and private connectivity.
• Monitor cloud-network connections, routes, throughput and service availability.
• Troubleshoot hybrid routing, VPN, private-connectivity and name-resolution issues.

Network Resilience and Disaster Recovery

• Maintain network recovery procedures, configuration backups and technical runbooks for critical network services.
• Support the recovery of switching, routing, WAN, internet, firewall, VPN, wireless and hybrid-connectivity services.
• Validate routing, redundant devices, firewall availability, connectivity and service restoration following recovery.

Incident, Change and Lifecycle Management

• Provide technical support for network incidents and restore services in accordance with approved operational priorities.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for significant or recurring network incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Implement network changes through approved testing, validation, rollback and change-management procedures.

Documentation and Technical Coordination

• Maintain network topology diagrams, device inventories, circuit records, IP-address information and configuration documentation.
• Maintain operating procedures, troubleshooting guides and disaster-recovery runbooks.
• Coordinate incidents, maintenance activities and technical support with internal teams, telecommunications providers and technology vendors.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
• Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional – Enterprise, or an equivalent current professional-level enterprise networking certification.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in enterprise network infrastructure, network security, connectivity, high availability and disaster-recovery environments.
• Hands‑on experience administering and supporting enterprise LAN, WAN, data‑centre, wireless and SD‑WAN networks, using technologies from Cisco, Juniper, Aruba or equivalent enterprise networking platforms.
• Experience configuring and supporting routing and switching technologies, including VLANs, trunking, link aggregation, spanning tree, OSPF, BGP, redundancy and QoS.
• Experience supporting SD‑WAN technologies, including Cisco Viptela or equivalent platforms.
• Experience administering enterprise firewalls and secure connectivity using Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ASA/FTD or equivalent technologies, including firewall policies, NAT, IPSec VPN and SSL VPN.
• Experience with network segmentation and microsegmentation technologies, including VXLAN, Cisco ACI, VMware NSX‑T or equivalent technologies.
• Experience supporting application delivery and load‑balancing technologies such as F5 and Citrix ADC.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting enterprise networks using SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark or equivalent network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Experience supporting edge, CDN and WAF services, including Akamai Kona Site Defender and Akamai App & API Protector, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with Azure and hybrid network connectivity, including ExpressRoute, and supporting connectivity requirements for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Working knowledge of networking for container platforms such as SUSE Rancher, including container network interfaces such as Calico, Flannel and Canal, and associated infrastructure technologies such as Portworx.
• Working knowledge of network infrastructure automation and configuration management using Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience supporting network high availability, redundancy, failover and disaster recovery, including participation in network recovery and failover testing.
