Network and Security Engineer – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The Network and Security Engineer will support and maintain wired and wireless networks, IT network security systems, firewalls, monitoring platforms, VPN services, MFA protocols, and IP telephony infrastructure across Aldar Education’s schools and business sites. The role also supports new site integration, infrastructure assessment, gap analysis, technology refresh planning, and deployment activities to ensure each site is aligned with enterprise network and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operations for headquarters and school network infrastructure, network security systems, wireless services, and IP telephony platforms.
- Provide technical support to IT teams and end‑user support for escalated network, security, and connectivity issues.
- Troubleshoot network‑related incidents while following SLAs and OLAs for network and security services.
- Configure, maintain, and support enterprise switches, routers, wireless controllers, firewalls, VPN services, MFA protocols, and IP telephony infrastructure.
- Ensure network and security assets are patched, updated, monitored, and maintained to reduce cyber security risks.
- Apply security patches, system upgrades, configuration changes, and infrastructure improvements as required.
- Implement and enforce network security controls based on organizational policies and direction from the Manager – Network and Security Infrastructure.
- Monitor, assess, improve, and document 24x7 monitoring systems, including alerts, logs, events, and performance data.
- Respond to SOAR alerts and help maintain a safe, secure, and compliant IT environment.
- Prepare routine reports covering IT security issues, network concerns, infrastructure risks, utilization, capacity, and performance.
- Add, modify, troubleshoot, and document network connections, network hardware, and related infrastructure components.
- Configure firewalls according to Aldar Education standards, security policies, and business requirements.
- Maintain enterprise network infrastructure, network standardization documents, and network equipment specification records.
- Asset‑tag network hardware, network software, monitoring tools, and related infrastructure items while keeping inventory records updated.
- Coordinate security incidents, network issues, and infrastructure concerns with IT managers and other IT functions.
- Provide incident response support, technical diagnosis, and timely resolution for network and security problems.
- Ensure all network‑related tickets are assigned, resolved, or escalated according to ITSM standards.
- Assess infrastructure at new business and school buildings, perform gap analysis, and support technology refresh and deployment plans.
- Work with project teams to implement IT infrastructure at new sites and connect them securely to the enterprise network.
- Prepare SOWs, BOQs, and IT procurement‑related documents for network and security projects.
- Assist with the technical assessment of new and existing technologies before procurement or deployment.
- Coordinate with external vendors and manufacturers for support cases, planned activities, technical reviews, and service improvement.
- Support Cisco Call Manager, voice gateways, SBC integration, and Microsoft Teams‑related IP telephony requirements.
- Maintain strong documentation for network configuration, security operations, site integration, and infrastructure standards.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Professional‑level enterprise routing and switching certification such as CCNP, HCIP, JNCIP, ACIP, or equivalent.
- Palo Alto Networks PCNSE certification and/or Fortinet NSE4 or higher certification.
- Cisco Voice over IP certification is required, with CCNP Collaboration preferred.
- Aruba ClearPass certification is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT networking and security.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, network components, network operating systems, and security standards.
- Hands‑on experience installing, modifying, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware appliances, virtual appliances, and software.
- Excellent troubleshooting experience across network and security technologies.
- Strong experience with TCP/IP, IP subnetting, structured cabling, passive networking, switching, routing, wireless infrastructure, VPN, firewalls, and monitoring platforms.
- Practical experience with Juniper, Huawei, Cisco, Aruba, FortiGate, Palo Alto, Juniper Mist, Aruba Central, and Panorama is highly valuable.
- Knowledge of IPSEC site‑to‑site VPN, remote VPN, MFA, SD‑WAN, and enterprise wireless administration.
- Experience with IP telephony, Cisco Call Manager, voice gateways, and SBC integration with Microsoft Teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, customer service, and problem‑solving skills.
- Highly self‑motivated and detail‑oriented with the ability to manage tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical ideas in user‑friendly language.

- Valid driver’s license and access to a car is required.
