Job summary

Kraken is looking for an experienced professional to take ownership of the React Native mobile experience within the Consumer Mobile team. You will focus on fluid gesture-driven interactions and work collaboratively with product designers to elevate motion and interaction design.

Ideal candidates will have deep expertise in React Native, including Reanimated, along with a strong portfolio showcasing their work. Exceptional performance profiling skills, especially in diverse mobile environments, are crucial.

Overview

The Consumer Mobile team builds the Kraken app, the interface millions of people use to interact with their money. We work in React Native and care deeply about how the product feels, not just whether it functions. A trade confirmation should feel instantaneous. A portfolio should feel alive. Navigation should feel effortless. These details directly impact trust, and trust is everything in crypto.

Responsibilities

• Own the craft layer of our React Native mobile experience, fluid gesture-driven interactions and transitions that feel native, not web-in-a-wrapper.
• Push React Native beyond its defaults using Reanimated, Skia, and native module bridges when the abstraction is not enough.
• Partner closely with product designers, challenging and elevating motion and interaction design from concept through implementation.
• Establish animation primitives and interaction patterns within our design system that other engineers can build on; your work becomes the quality floor for the team.
• Profile and optimise rendering performance, especially on lower-end Android devices where frame drops are unforgivable.
• Contribute to architectural decisions that affect UI responsiveness, state management, render cycles, and data flow into the view layer.
• Mentor engineers on interaction quality and raise the standard for what done looks like across the mobile org.

Qualifications

• Deep demonstrable experience building polished mobile interfaces in React Native, with strong knowledge of Reanimated and experience resolving gesture handler conflicts.
• Expertise profiling JS thread versus UI thread performance and achieving consistent 60fps where possible.
• A trained eye for interaction design; noticing when an easing curve is wrong, understanding spring physics, and treating 60fps as a constraint rather than a target.
• Experience with modern AI development tooling such as Cursor or Copilot as a natural part of daily build processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• A portfolio or demo reel of shipped work is a hard requirement; if we cannot see your craft, we cannot evaluate it.
