Job Purpose
An MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Coach at a martial arts academy plays a critical role in training and developing fighters in various disciplines such as Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu Muay Thai wrestling and boxing to compete in MMA competitions. The coach is responsible for creating a structured training program improving fighters skills ensuring their safety and fostering a positive and disciplined training environment
Technical Instruction
- Instruct fighters in martial arts techniques, forms and fundamentals with precision and clarity.
- Introduce the discipline or technique of focus for each class, such as striking, grappling, submissions, takedowns, self‑defence etc.
- Ensure a clear understanding of proper execution of techniques, stances and movements.
- Provide demonstrations and explanations tailored to various skill levels, accommodating beginners and advanced fighters.
- Demonstrate correct form, footwork and body mechanics to fighters.
Role Modeling
- Act as a role model for students exhibiting discipline, respect and humility.
- Treat all athletes fairly and equally irrespective of background, gender, race or any other characteristic with zero tolerance for discrimination.
- Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, integrity and ethics in all coaching and training interactions.
- Uphold the values and traditions of martial arts and the academy.
Inspiration and Motivation
- Inspire and motivate fighters to pursue their martial arts goals with dedication and enthusiasm.
- Encourage a strong work ethic and perseverance.
Safety and Discipline
- Cultivate a culture of safety, respect and discipline within the academy.
- Enforce gym rules and guidelines to maintain a positive training atmosphere.
- Employ age‑appropriate teaching techniques that promote discipline, respect and self‑control taking into account the developmental stages of young athletes.
- Prioritise athletes safety and well‑being taking reasonable precautions to prevent physical harm and injury during training sessions.
- Refrain from using any form of physical or emotional punishment that could harm a fighters physical or mental well‑being.
Equipment Maintenance
- Ensure that training equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well‑maintained.
- Report equipment issues or safety concerns to academy management.
Class Rules
- Enforce class attendance by the correct age group without exceptions.
- Ensure members wear the required uniform for class training.
- Notify late members and support them in contacting their parents or guardians.
- Maintain a safe training environment and implement safety protocols.
- Ensure correct matching of players weight during class drillings and sparring to prevent injuries.
Injury Prevention
- Teach proper warm‑up and cool‑down routines to prevent injuries.
- Monitor fighters techniques and movements to correct unsafe practices.
- Avoid using excessive force, aggressive techniques or harmful methods that could cause harm to any athlete.
Emergency Preparedness
- In case of injury during class inform the branch admin and follow the academy’s procedures for handling cases considering the severity of the injury.
Conflict Resolution
- Mediate conflicts or disagreements among students in a fair and constructive manner.
- Promote a respectful and harmonious training atmosphere.
Boundaries when Dealing with Females
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanour when working with female athletes avoiding any language, behaviour or actions that may make them uncomfortable or be considered as inappropriate, offensive or disrespectful.
Communication
- Communicate with athletes in a respectful, constructive and supportive manner.
- Maintain open and transparent communication with students and athletes providing clear expectations, training plans and progress updates.
- Inform students about class schedules, events and changes in the academy’s policies or procedures.
Progress Tracking and Assessment
- Please keep track of each student’s development and monitor their progress.
- Conduct regular evaluations, tests or belt promotions to assess students skills and readiness for advancement.
- Provide individualized feedback and instruction to address each student’s specific needs.
Conditioning and Fitness
- Oversee fighters physical conditioning including strength and conditioning exercises, cardio training and weight management.
- Develop personalised fitness routines to optimise fighters endurance and stamina.
- Ensure fighters are in peak physical condition for competitions.
Fighter Development
- Implement ADMAs comprehensive training programs to improve fighters techniques, physical fitness and fight strategy.
- Assess individual fighters strengths and weaknesses and tailor their training plans accordingly.
- Nominate talented fighters for the athletes program and special camps in preparation for competitions.
Attendance and Records
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, number of classes conducted and number of attendees in each class.
- Exclude non-members of AKA ALAIN from attendance records including guests with a free trial.
- Sign off on PT classes conducted as per the contract obtaining required client signatures directly after the session.
- Ensure the accuracy of the record sheet of daily classes before signing off.
Sparring and Live Drills
- Organise and participate in organised sparring sessions, live drills and simulated fights.
- Monitor sparring intensity and rules compliance to ensure safety.
- Provide real‑time feedback and guidance during sparring sessions.
Competitions
- Physically prepare fighters for competitions, monitor fitness levels and assist with weight management when necessary.
- Educate athletes about competition rules and regulations to avoid penalties or disqualifications.
- Ensure fighters arrive at competitions with the required gear.
- Escort fighters during weigh‑ins and provide the necessary support.
- Maintain fighters motivation and focus throughout competitions, offering guidance and support.
- Serve as cornermen during competitions, giving instructions, advice and encouragement between rounds.
- After competitions provide emotional support and review athletes performances, offering constructive feedback and celebrating successes.
Continuous Learning
- Engage in continuous learning by staying updated with the latest MMA teaching methods, trends, rules and techniques.
- Attend seminars, workshops and training camps to expand your knowledge and skills.
- Share new knowledge and insights with fighters to keep them current.
Loyalty and Commitment
- Demonstrate loyalty and commitment to Academy by actively participating in promotional events, seminars and activities that contribute to the academy’s growth.
- Please provide accurate information about Academy its programs achievements and offerings ensuring all statements are truthful and not misleading.
- Avoid endorsing or representing competing martial arts academies training facilities or organisations that may conflict with Academys interests.
Respect for Academy Policies
- Adhere to all policies, rules and guidelines set forth by Academy regarding representation, promotion and conduct.
- Promptly report any concerns, incidents or negative feedback related to Academy to the appropriate academy officials.
Uniform Compliance
- Wear the official Academy uniform per the academy’s dress code during coaching sessions, public appearances and academy‑affiliated events.
- Maintain a neat, clean and professional appearance while wearing the ADMA Academy uniform to reflect the academy’s commitment to excellence.
Promotion of Academy Events
- Actively promote Academy events, seminars and activities while adhering to the Academy’s branding and promotional guidelines.
- Represent Academy positively, respectfully and professionally on personal social media channels aligning with the academy’s values and mission.
Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest
- Avoid promoting or endorsing competing martial arts academ, training facilities or organisations on personal social media channels that may conflict with Academys interests.
