Job summary

Tanqeeb in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior MEPS Engineer to act as the technical authority for MEPS systems within the Engineering function, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance management of the MEPS team.

You will support the Engineering Manager Infrastructure in developing asset strategies, lifecycle plans, governance frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, asset availability, and compliance with international standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical or mechanical discipline or equivalent.
• Experience as MEPS System Engineer or similar.
• Knowledge of RAMS, FRB, Change Management and asset assurance.
• Experience in complex technical problem solving.
• Strong stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEPS engineers and provide technical leadership within Infrastructure.

The Senior MEPS Engineer acts as the technical authority for MEPS systems within the Engineering function and supports the Engineering Manager Infrastructure in the development and execution of engineering strategies, asset management plans, governance frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role also provides direct leadership, supervision, mentoring, and performance management of MEPS Engineers within the Engineering team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic

• Support the development and implementation of MEPS asset strategies aligned with long-term organizational objectives.
• Lead the development of lifecycle management plans, asset renewal strategies, and investment prioritization for MEPS systems.
• Develop and implement reliability-based, risk-based, and lifecycle-focused initiatives to improve asset availability and performance.
• Ensure MEPS engineering standards, specifications, and strategies align with international standards, asset management principles, and railway industry best practices.
• Support the Engineering Manager Infrastructure in establishing engineering governance frameworks and strategic improvement initiatives.
• Act as the technical lead for MEPS engineering matters and provide expert input into business planning and asset management decisions.
• Deputize for the Engineering Manager Infrastructure on MEPS-related matters as required

Financial

• Support the development of CAPEX and OPEX business cases related to MEPS assets.
• Provide engineering leadership to ensure cost-effective lifecycle decisions and asset investment planning.
• Review and validate engineering recommendations to optimize maintenance costs, asset performance, and long-term value.
• Support budget planning activities through engineering analysis, risk assessments, and lifecycle forecasting.

Stakeholder / Customer

• Act as the senior engineering focal point for MEPS-related technical matters.
• Interface with Maintenance, Operations, Planning, QHSE, Data & Digital, PMO, and Project teams to ensure engineering outputs support operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with RTA, OEMs, suppliers, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Represent the Engineering Department in technical forums, audits, project reviews, and stakeholder meetings.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to senior management regarding asset performance, reliability, and engineering risks.

Operational

• Lead engineering investigations into MEPS asset failures, performance issues, degradation trends, and reliability concerns.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Engineering Technical Investigations (ETI), Failure Review Boards (FRB), and corrective action implementation.
• Develop, review, approve, and govern engineering standards, specifications, maintenance principles, and technical documentation.
• Lead engineering change management activities including ACCAs, design modifications, upgrades, and asset renewal projects.
• Analyse asset performance and condition monitoring data to develop reliability-centred and condition-based maintenance strategies.
• Support project-to-engineering and project-to-maintenance handovers, ensuring compliance, technical assurance, and documentation completeness.
• Manage technical aspects of MEPS asset obsolescence, including risk assessments, mitigation plans, and replacement strategies.
• Ensure compliance with safety, engineering governance, railway standards, and asset management requirements.
• Monitor engineering KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across MEPS systems.
• Provide technical approval and oversight of engineering recommendations prepared by MEPS Engineers.

Capability / People

• Lead, manage, coach, mentor, and develop MEPS Engineers within the Infrastructure Engineering team.
• Allocate engineering workstreams, monitor performance, and ensure delivery of engineering objectives.
• Conduct performance reviews and support professional development and succession planning activities.
• Promote knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across Engineering and Maintenance functions.
• Ensure engineering competence standards are maintained within the MEPS discipline.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, reliability, innovation, and asset optimization.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of engineering personnel as required.
