We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to bridge the gap between design and production. In this role, you will be the final gatekeeper of manufacturability—transforming raw models into production-ready assemblies. You will focus heavily on fit, function, and modern manufacturing techniques, ensuring our designs are not just theoretical but buildable.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Assembly Finishing:Refine existing 3D models and complete mechanical assemblies by integrating standard components (fasteners, washers, bearings) to ensure a manufacturing-ready design.
- Technical Documentation:Generate high-precision 2D technical drawings from 3D models, ensuring clarity for machinists and production teams.
- Tolerance & Fit Management:Apply correct fits and geometric tolerances for shafts, bearings, and bearing housings to ensure smooth mechanical movement and proper assembly.
Skills
Required Qualifications
- CAD Proficiency:Expertise in 3D modeling and assembly management (experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or any professional CAD system is acceptable).
- GD&T Mastery:Proven, hands‑on experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to control part geometry and function.
- Additive Manufacturing Design:Demonstrated experience in designing parts specifically for 3D printing, including the ability to optimize designs to eliminate the need for support structures.
- Technical Knowledge:Strong understanding of mechanical fits, clearances, and the interaction between shafts and bearings.
- Workflow Management:Highly structured and organized approach to file management, revision control, and documentation.
Nice to Have
- CFD Preparation:Experience preparing and cleaning up 3D geometries for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation (no analysis required; just geometry extraction/simplification).
- Bearing Housing Expertise:Specific experience applying GD&T and fit standards to shaft tunnels and bearing housing interfaces.
Your Personality
Structured, self-directed and reliable. You manage your own workflow, stay organized, meet deadlines consistently, and take full ownership of your work.
