Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the busbar ETO team in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. You will create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for custom busbar assemblies, collaborate with BIM Team, project managers and manufacturing to ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements.

The role emphasizes design reviews, BOM updates, on-time delivery, and adherence to HSE policies, with experience in CAD, GD&T, and make-to-order environments.

Qualifications

• Graduate/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years CAD drafting in ETO or custom fabrication environment.
• Proficient in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, sheet metal design, and structural components.
• Familiarity with fabrication methods, machining processes, and material selection.
• Understanding of manufacturing constraints for formed sheet metal, copper, and aluminum components.
• Experience in ETO/MTO or custom manufacturing environment preferred.
• Understanding of GD&T and best practices for drafting drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and multi-project management.
• Excel/Outlook proficiency; SolidWorks PDM experience.
• Team player and ability to receive/offer constructive criticism.

Responsibilities

• Receive instruction from Design Manager and prepare manufacturing drawings for customized non-standard products per project requirements.
• Conduct Design Reviews on each step per the Design Control Plan.
• Maintain BOM changes and communicate to Design Manager and project team.
• Communicate drawing/spec discrepancies to deliver quality drawings.
• Complete each Project design on or before estimated date.
• Adhere to HSE guidelines and Vertiv policies in factory and site.
• Print as needed and reduce paper usage.
• Forward drawings to Design Manager for approval.
• Follow up with inputs and avoid assumptions.
• Prepare site measurements based on input from Design Manager.
• Maintain zero error in design.
• Update drawing locations of working/output files to Design Manager.
• Adhere to Vertiv’s HSE and equal opportunity policies.
