Job description

AECOM are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to be based in our Dubai and Abu Dhabi offices. The Mechanical Engineers will work as part of the wider Building Engineering practice and collaborate with architects, structural engineers and project managers to integrate building systems into overall designs.

Responsibilities
  • Create designs specific to their discipline i.e. heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, power distribution, fire safety, plumbing and energy systems.
  • Utilize design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, Revizto or BIM tools) to produce detailed layouts and schematics.
  • Develop sustainable and energy‑efficient solutions that comply with regulations and environmental standards.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure successful delivery.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications and calculations to support project needs.
  • Ensure compatibility and functionality of various building services systems within the structure.
  • Address challenges in integrating new systems into existing buildings or structures.
  • Ensure designs meet local building codes, health and safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide solutions to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Conduct design reviews, audits and risk assessments to ensure the reliability and safety of designs.
  • Stay updated on advancements in building technologies, materials and energy solutions.
  • Explore and implement innovative designs that reduce carbon footprints.
  • Adopt advanced BIM modelling solutions including computational engineering for sizing systems in the Revit environment.
  • Should be able to develop Models to LOD 150 to integrate conceptual spatial planning in design using Revit.
  • Learn and apply digital delivery workflows through system optimization, advanced simulations, strategies and multidisciplinary coordination through adoption of Revit tools/Revizto in ACC and BIM 360 environment.
  • Develop Digital skills through adoption of Programming languages in enhancing design automation, data analysis and system integration.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years is required in Mechanical Design.
  • Experience on vertical projects with a particular focus on hospitality and high rise.
  • A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering is required.
