Job summary

ADASI is seeking a Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Engineer in Abu Dhabi to lead the design and integration of UAV airframe subsystems, including landing gear, fuel, ECS, hydraulics, and actuation. You will create 3D CAD models and manufacturing docs using CATIA/NX/SolidWorks, and perform structural, hydromechanical and thermal analyses.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in aerospace mechanical design, with strong GD&T knowledge and familiarity with AS9100, MIL-STD and DO-160 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, master’s preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in aerospace mechanical systems design with expertise in at least three areas (landing gear, fuel, ECS, hydraulics, actuation).
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM systems; strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, and validation of mechanical airframe systems for UAV platforms.
• Develop 3D CAD models and manufacturing documentation using CATIA, NX or SolidWorks.
• Perform structural, hydromechanical and thermal analyses for system integrity under loads and environment.
• Collaborate with avionics, propulsion and flight controls for seamless integration.
• Define system requirements, ICDs and BOMs per aerospace standards (AS9100, MIL-STD, DO-160).
• Support prototypes, ground tests and flight trials, troubleshoot issues in real time.
• Ensure airworthiness compliance and defense-sector quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement for performance, manufacturability and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and take ownership for the design, integration, and validation of mechanical airframe systems, including landing gear assemblies, fuel distribution systems, ECS, hydraulic circuits, and actuation mechanisms for UAV platforms.
• Develop 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation using industry-standard tools (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks).
• Perform structural, hydromechanical and thermal analyses to ensure system integrity and correct sizing under operational loads and environmental conditions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams - avionics, propulsion, flight controls to ensure seamless system integration.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and bill of materials (BOMs) in compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD, RTCA DO-160).
• Support prototype builds, ground tests, and flight trials, troubleshooting and resolving design issues in real time.
• Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations and defense sector quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, manufacturability, and maintainability.

Educational background

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 5 years experience in aerospace mechanical systems design, with proven expertise in at least three of the following: landing gear, fuel systems, ECS, hydraulics, actuation.

Professional Experience

• Proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM systems (CATIA, NX, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic system design, fuel system architecture, and ECS thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools.
• Standards & Compliance: Experience with aerospace and defense standards (e.g., AS9100, MIL-STD, DO-160).
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and clear technical communication.

Technical Skills

• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• EASA Part 21 or GCAA Design Organisation Approval (DOA) exposure.
• Certification in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ASEP/CSEP) or Project Management (PMP/PRINCE2).

Requirements:
