Job summary

Damen Shipyards Group is seeking an experienced MDM Application Engineer (Stibo STEP) to strengthen its Master Data Management capabilities across a global maritime leader. You will configure, develop, and continuously improve the MDM platform, collaborating with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and business stakeholders.

The role emphasizes platform engineering, governance, and integration, with a hands-on, data-quality driven approach to enable analytics, AI, and digital transformation initiatives

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Application Engineering, Enterprise Applications, Master Data Management, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with Stibo Systems STEP or comparable MDM platforms.
• Proven experience configuring, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications.
• Experience working with business-critical systems in complex organizations.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Experience supporting global stakeholders across multiple business functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop & Enhance the MDM Platform: Configure and maintain Stibo STEP workflows, business rules, validations, and data models.
• Support Business-Critical Operations: Investigate and resolve incidents, defects, and service requests; monitor platform performance, stability, and reliability.
• Enable Enterprise Data Quality & Integration: Design, develop, and support integrations between Stibo STEP and enterprise platforms; ensure data consistency.
• Collaborate & Drive Continuous Improvement: Work with Product Owners, Data Architects, and stakeholders to prioritize improvements; participate in Agile delivery; collaborate with partners.
• Promote best practices in Master Data Management across the organization.

We are looking for a hands-on MDM professional who understands how master data drives business value and who can help evolve our enterprise data landscape through robust platform engineering, process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration. You may come from manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction, marine, offshore, engineering, energy, utilities, or similar asset-intensive industries where fragmented data, disconnected systems, and inconsistent data definitions create operational challenges.

The Role

As an MDM Application Engineer (Stibo STEP), you will be responsible for the configuration, development, support, and continuous improvement of Damen’s Master Data Management platform.

You will work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to establish scalable master data capabilities that improve data quality, governance, standardization, and business performance.

The role requires a balance between technical expertise, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, operational support, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Develop & Enhance the MDM Platform

• Configure and maintain Stibo STEP workflows, business rules, validations, and data models
• Translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable MDM solutions
• Develop enhancements that improve data quality, process efficiency, and user experience
• Support the onboarding of new master data domains and data management capabilities
• Ensure platform configurations align with enterprise architecture and governance standards

Support Business-Critical Operations

• Investigate and resolve incidents, defects, and service requests
• Monitor platform performance, stability, and reliability
• Provide application support and technical guidance to business stakeholders
• Manage operational activities through established service management processes
• Maintain technical documentation and knowledge repositories

Enable Enterprise Data Quality & Integration

• Design, develop, and support integrations between Stibo STEP and enterprise platforms
• Ensure master data consistency across multiple systems and business domains
• Collaborate with integration teams to maintain secure and reliable data flows
• Support enterprise-wide data quality initiatives
• Contribute to the implementation of data stewardship and governance practices

Collaborate & Drive Continuous Improvement

• Work with Product Owners, Data Architects, and business stakeholders to prioritize improvements
• Participate in Agile delivery processes and sprint activities
• Collaborate with external implementation partners and technology vendors
• Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and simplification
• Promote best practices in Master Data Management across the organization
