Job summary

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman is seeking an experienced Nursing Unit Head for the Delivery/Labour Room. You will lead the maternity nursing team, oversee daily operations, and ensure safe, evidence-based care for mothers and newborns.

The role requires a nursing degree (MSc preferred), a valid nursing license, and at least 10 years of clinical and managerial experience in Nursing Administration. You will drive quality improvement and coordinate multidisciplinary care in a high-volume

Qualifications

• Valid nursing license
• Minimum 10 yrs experience in clinical care and managerial roles within Nursing Administration

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Delivery/Labour Room to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff, promoting development and evidence-based practice.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate care of women during labour, delivery, and immediate postpartum period for optimal outcomes.
• Monitor staffing, prepare duty rosters, and allocate resources for efficient workflow.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists and midwives for seamless care.
• Oversee admissions, transfers, discharges, and emergency responses within the unit.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives, audits, incident reporting, and risk management.
• Ensure availability and safe use of equipment, medications, and supplies.
• Participate in recruitment, orientation, competency assessments, and education of staff.
• Promote patient and family education with respectful, culturally sensitive care.
• Maintain KPIs and prepare operational reports for nursing leadership.
• Participate in hospital committees, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement.
