Job summary

Stantec in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, seeks a Civil Engineer to contribute to stormwater, drainage, flood alleviation, and wastewater network projects. Responsibilities

• Review contractor's material submittals for civil and piping work.
• Complete data collection and analysis for conceptual planning and design.
• Asset condition assessments of materials to ensure compliance with technical specs and local authority requirements.
• Prepare material specifications reports.
• Assist in project administration including drafting proposals and progress reports.
• Review work performed by designers and administrative staff.
• Identify non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions.
• Collaborate as part of a project team.
• Conduct technical feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Liaise with teams remotely from other parts of the world to facilitate task completion.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience with ISO9000 quality systems and quality inspections.
• Internal and external client liaison.
• Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships.
• Experience in utility diversions and management.
• Follow safe work practices and company guidelines and policies.
• Design for safety and Construction Design Management.
• Other duties as requested by the Assistant Resident Engineer.

Job description

The role involves working on projects associated with stormwater & drainage, flood alleviation, wastewater networks and water distribution networks. This will involve undertaking investigations, planning, designing, tendering, contract administration and construction monitoring.

Key accountabilities for this position include but are not limited to:

Technical Delivery

• Review contractor's material submittals for civil and piping work.
• Complete data collection and analysis for conceptual planning and design
• Asset condition assessments of materials ensure compliance to technical specifications of contract and local authority requirements.
• Preparation of material specifications reports
• Assist in project administration including gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports.
• Review work performed by designers and administrative staff.
• Identifying non-conforming materials, generating reports and corrective actions, and coordinating responses.
• Collaboration and working as part of a team.
• Conduct technical, feasibility studies and site investigations.
• Liaison with teams working remotely from other parts of the world to facilitate the completion of tasks and projects.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience in the conduct of quality inspections with hands on experience of ISO9000 quality systems

Client Service Management

• Internal and external client liaison
• Ability to build and maintain lasting and positive relationships.
• Experience in utility diversions and management.
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
• Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
• Design for safety, i.e., Construction Design Management.
• Other duties as requested from time to time by the Assistant Resident Engineer.
