Job summary

METCO in Abu Dhabi seeks a skilled Marine Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain complex marine propulsion and auxiliary systems on a fleet of vessels. You will service engines, transmissions, steering, and fuel systems, using diagnostic tools and manuals to keep vessels operating safely and efficiently.

The role requires hands-on experience with diesel and gasoline engines, ABYC or equivalent certifications, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance in a demanding marine

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; marine mechanic training preferred.
  • ABYC or manufacturer-specific certifications encouraged.
  • 3–5 years hands-on experience on marine engines and systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex marine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on vessels.
  • Conduct routine maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.

Job description

  • Conduct routine maintenance services such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks to ensure optimal performance and longevity of marine equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve engine malfunctions using diagnostic tools and technical manuals to minimize downtime and ensure safe operation.
  • Inspect and repair fuel systems including fuel lines, pumps, and injectors to maintain fuel efficiency and prevent leaks.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a marine mechanic training program is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as ABYC or manufacturer‑specific certifications.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands‑on experience working on a variety of marine engines and systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, and related equipment.
