Job summary

Dubai Aviation Corporation in Dubai is seeking a seasoned Structural Engineer to lead the Technical Services Structures team, addressing in-service airframe damage and coordinating with TC holders and MROs. You will drive certification and airworthiness activities under CAR V CAR-21 Subpart J, review SBs/SILs, manage open certification programs, and ensure timely, compliant repairs across the fleet.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or engineering degree required; ICAO Type 2 license if applicable.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Minimum 5 years in a GCAA CAR-M / CAR-21 Subpart J environment; 3+ years as Structures Compliance Verification Engineer.
  • Regulatory knowledge of GCAA CAR-21 Subpart J / EASA Part 21 Subpart J.
  • AMeOS knowledge desirable; knowledge of MRO systems.
  • Total experience 7–9 years.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and supports the Technical Services Structures team in investigating structural damage and defining permanent repairs.
  • Collaborates with engineering to align fleet actions, structural damage, repair plans and maintenance.
  • Reviews Open structural certification programmes and ensures compliance demonstration activities.
  • Manages airworthiness information/history related to structural damage for the entire flydubai fleet.
  • Evaluates SBs, SILs and other TC holder publications for Document Review meetings.
  • Represents the team in industry and airworthiness authority meetings and provides information to senior management.
  • Leads airworthiness and certification activities under CAR V CAR-21 Subpart J.
  • Supports investigations into non-conformities and safety reports related to structures.

Job description

MAIN OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

To manage the Technical Services Structures team, addressing ‘in-service’ structural damage issues and providing technical support, reliability / warranty functions as necessary to support the continued airworthiness of the operated aircraft fleet in accordance with UAE GCAA CAR V CAR-M.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages and supports the Technical Services Structures team resource in the investigation of structural damage, establishing temporary ‘fly-on limitations’ and liaising with the Type Certificate holders and Maintenance Repair Organisations to define the necessary permanent repairs.
  • Fosters a collaborative and supportive working environment that supports a continuous drive for, technical consistency, and improvement in line with organisational goals and industry best practices.
  • Collaborates with other engineering functions to align fleet technical actions, structural damage, repair plans and maintenance activities, ensuring operational efficiency while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provides a continuous review of all ‘Open’ structural certification programmes, monitoring compliance demonstration activity and resource alignment with the established needs and timelines to ensure project success and organisational efficiency.
  • Manages continuing airworthiness information, history (databases) related to structural damage for each aircraft of the flydubai fleet.
  • Evaluates Service Bulletins (SBs), Service Information Letters (SILs) and other aircraft Type Certificate holders, regulatory and manufacturer publications in readiness for presentation at Document Review meetings.
  • Represents the Technical Services Structures team in industry and airworthiness authority meetings and provides required information to the internal senior management team.
  • Leads airworthiness and certification activities related to structural design under CAR V CAR-21 Subpart J, ensuring compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Supports investigations into any non-conformities, authority findings, independent monitoring findings, Air Safety Reports, Engineering Safety Reports, and safety incident reports related to CAR V CAR-M and CAR V CAR-21 Subpart J structures activities.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of processes and procedures related to the Design Services (Structures) functions.
  • Develops and implements effective resource plans (including 24 / 7 coverage), training programmes and competency assessments to ensure the assigned team has the required capability and coverage to support operational requirements.
  • Coordinates with relevant business areas to align structural repair, certification, and design support activities, ensuring effective optimal operational support and compliance with regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree (3+ years)
  • Engineering Degree OR ICAO Type 2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License
  • Fluent in English
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience working within a GCAA CAR-M Continued Airworthiness Management Organisation and / or CAR-21 Subpart J Design Organisation (or equivalent) of which at least 3 years have been spent holding a (Structures) Compliance Verification Engineer approval related to aircraft structural repairs and their subsequent embodiment.Proficient demonstratable regulatory knowledge of GCAA CAR-21 Subpart J / EASA Part 21 Subpart J.Working knowledge of initial airworthiness and environmental protection.
  • IT systems including Microsoft Suite and knowledge of Maintenance Repair Organisation systems such as AMOS would be desirable.
