Role Context

The Manager - Market Intelligence and Strategy leads the development of market research and competitive intelligence capabilities supporting strategic and commercial decision-making across ADNOC. The role translates complex global and regional energy market developments into clear conclusions, scenarios and recommendations for senior executives, including the Group CEO and other leadership stakeholders. The position combines market research, competitive intelligence, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning and departmental leadership. It requires the ability to evaluate external market signals, identify emerging risks and opportunities, manage specialist intelligence providers and rapidly respond to high-priority requests from senior management, government authorities and UAE ministries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead market research covering oil, gas, energy markets and related industrial sectors relevant to ADNOC 's strategic priorities.
  • Develop and continuously improve market research methodologies, analytical frameworks and intelligence capabilities.
  • Provide expert interpretation of global and regional energy market developments to senior leadership.
  • Prepare concise market outlooks, strategic assessments and executive-level recommendations for business decision-making.
  • Monitor changes in demand, supply, pricing, customer behavior, competitive positioning and industry structure.
  • Develop intelligence on major international and regional competitors, markets and customers.
  • Define competitive intelligence objectives and establish structured data collection and analysis programs.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with global technical, commercial and market intelligence providers.
  • Assess the quality, relevance and commercial value of third-party intelligence services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with international organizations and recognized market information providers.
  • Strengthen engagement with relevant national entities and strategic stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with organizations such as government bodies, investment institutions and other Abu Dhabi entities where market intelligence collaboration is required.
  • Lead analysis of competitors, assets, market trends and strategic developments affecting ADNOC 's positioning.

  • Contribute to development of UAE National talent in line with Emiratization objectives.
  • Provide departmental input into annual budgets and operational plans.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and investigate material variances.
  • Ensure resources are used efficiently while maintaining required analytical capability.
  • Lead implementation of approved policies, procedures, internal controls and departmental systems.
  • Maintain alignment with company governance requirements and applicable international standards.
  • Implement performance management requirements across the department.
  • Track departmental KPIs, annual performance objectives and Balanced Score Card commitments.
  • Review departmental organization structures and recommend improvements where responsibilities or resources require adjustment.

Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor 's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.

A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in business development, competitive intelligence, marketing or closely related strategic functions is required.

At least 10 years should have been gained in comparable managerial or advisory positions involving senior‑level decision support.

Substantial experience within the oil and gas industry is essential.

Candidates should demonstrate deep understanding of international energy markets, competitive positioning, market research and strategic planning.

Proven experience translating large volumes of market and commercial information into clear recommendations for senior executives is important.

The role requires strong executive communication skills and the confidence to present findings to senior management, government stakeholders and strategic external partners.

Experience managing specialist intelligence providers, consulting firms and research vendors will be valuable.

A Master 's degree or professional certification in Marketing is preferred.
