Job Purpose

The role holder is responsible for managing commercial and contract responsibilities of the International Hospitality Assets department, acting under the control of the DHH Development lead. This includes but is not limited to reviewing and advising on cost plans, managing tender processes and reviewing returns, negotiating consultant and contractor’s contracts, plus advising on administration of the same, including advising and agreeing VOs, and close out of final accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Development team in all commercial aspects related to development delivery, including but not limited to;
  • Providing estimates for new projects
  • Cost plan reviews o Development Budgeting o Tendering (both consultants and contractors)
  • Preparing tender reports and Monitoring CapEx expenditure
  • Processing Payment Certificates and close out of final accounts
  • Support the Development team for all contract matters in conjunction with internal and external legal support including but not limited to:
  • Drafting contracts and Negotiating contracts with external parties
  • Agreeing and preparing contract schedules
  • Obtaining internal sign off as per policy
  • Engrossing contracts o Advising on the administration of contracts
  • Work across multiple assets and projects internationally managing and inputting into budget tracking and forecast completion costs.
  • Ensure that the group’s procedures and policies are being complied with.
Key Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in a commercial function for a consultant, developer or contractor.
  • At least 5 years working within a top tier developer either internationally or in the UAE
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in cost management
  • MRICS designation preferred
  • Cost Management: Expert in preparation of cost plans, measurement, and management of costs. Ability to integrate and advise on improvements to cost reporting and budget plans.
  • Contracts: In depth knowledge of typical contracts and variation procedures and full ability to understand and administer contracts in different jurisdictions.
  • Construction Knowledge: Excellent level of understanding of the full project lifecycle including construction methodologies and details and the design process.
  • Negotiation: Able to negotiate with external parties to achieve the desired business and project goals.
  • Procurement: Expert in preparing and running tender processes for onboarding of consultants, contractors and specialist services.
  • Budgeting: Commercial expert in construction costs and the impact of the decision-making process on budgets. Able to manage and control costs and offer direction on cost effective solutions inc. leading value engineering processes.
  • Sustainability: Experience of sustainable construction, renewable technology and construction best practice.
  • Project Reporting: Able to prepare and present reports for the wider organisation to update progress on projects status
  • Risk Management: An appreciation for risks and understanding of how to document them, including mitigation plans to ensure projects are delivered within their respective constraints.
  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills to be able to present to Group CEO level.
  • Other Skills: Excellent negotiation skills, Advanced organisation and time management skills, meticulous attention to detail, interpersonal skills.
