Job summary

BDO UAE is seeking an experienced audit professional to lead external audit engagements across diverse clients in the UAE. The role requires delivering high-quality assurance services, deep IFRS knowledge, and effective stakeholder communication with senior management and governance bodies.

You will manage multiple engagements, coach teams, and drive process improvements while maintaining compliance with auditing standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of post-qualification experience in External Audit and Assurance.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is mandatory.
• Proven track record of successfully managing audit engagements and leading diverse teams.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, ISA, and audit methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Review audit workpapers, technical assessments, and judgments to ensure documentation supports conclusions.
• Lead audit closing meetings and present findings to management, Audit Committees, Boards, and TCWG.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate audit engagements, ensuring assignments are completed within agreed timelines and resources are allocated effectively.
• Monitor engagement profitability, project efficiency, billing, and collection processes.
• Perform first-level reviews of complex financial statements and audit documentation in compliance with IFRS and auditing standards.
• Develop a thorough understanding of clients' businesses, industries, and key financial and operational risks before engagement commencement.
• Manage client relationships, conduct planning and status meetings, and serve as a key point of contact throughout the audit lifecycle.
• Review audit workpapers, technical assessments, and judgments, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and supports conclusions reached.
• Ensure compliance with quality control requirements, independence standards, and client continuance procedures.
• Lead audit closing meetings, present findings and recommendations to management, Audit Committees, Boards of Directors, and Those Charged with Governance (TCWG).
• Foster collaboration within engagement teams, provide technical guidance, and create a positive and high-performance work environment.
• Support people development through coaching, mentoring, performance reviews, and appraisal discussions for team members.

• Strong experience in external audit and assurance engagements.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and auditing standards.

• Proven ability to manage multiple engagements and lead teams effectively.

• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and clients.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
